Ameesha Patel Defends Alia Bhatt Against Online Trolling

Ameesha Patel stepped in for Alia Bhatt. She’s defending her friend because of all the trolling happening over those Cannes appearances. You know, the ones that went viral.

Alia was at the 79th festival. Her looks were everywhere. Lots of people liked her. But then there was this other side. A section of the internet started picking on her. Accusing her of being ignored by the international media.

Ameesha posted it all on X. She wrote something pretty pointed. “Recent activities have clearly made it evident that our own INDIAN mentality has become to pull others down… we call ourselves as ONE nation and united- but are we actually?”

She didn't name Alia directly. But everyone figured it was about her.

Then came the next part. She hit out at something specific. “Actors here in INDIA r more badly trolled by our own people than Hollywood stars are within their country from their own people, which is so sad! Whether it’s an Indain stars appearance or attire at big events, they sadly become targets of their own people! Such a shame!”

It felt like a punch. A real frustration, you know?

But it wasn’t just Ameesha. Other people jumped in.

Writer Shunali Khullar Shroff posted on Instagram. A long one. Supporting Alia.

Soni Razdan commented. She said something about the noise online. “Social media is full of many things, love, information, entertainment, and… a lot of hate. And more than anything else, it reveals something about society. A very interesting sociological discussion could ensue and be discussed and studied for years to come.”

Aly Goni also weighed in on Instagram. He said it was sad when people tried to drag down someone who worked so hard to put India on the global stage. Alia reached places many only dream of. Representing the country at Cannes with grace and pride.

Then the actor herself got involved. She said we shouldn't mock. We should celebrate. Support those who make India shine internationally. We rise higher when we uplift our own. Not when we try to demean them.

A lot of fans just backed her up on social media. They defended her.

And then there was that one comment. Someone on Alia’s post just wrote, “What a pity, no one noticed you,” followed by a laughing emoji.

Alia didn’t ignore it. She reacted. With her usual wit. She just replied, “Why pity, love? You noticed me :)

And you know, it wasn't just Ameesha. Sonu Sood and Rahul Vaidya had also stepped up to defend Alia against those trolls. It was a mess of reactions, really.
