CTET 2026 Application Guide: Eligibility, Timeline, and Fees

The CTET 2026 application window is closing fast, and things are getting really specific about how people can even get in the door. You need to know the timeline right now.

Application Timeline and Deadlines

They opened applications on May 11th, but listen up the deadline is tomorrow. June 10th, 2026, at 11:59 PM . That’s it. If you miss that, gone. Don't even think about asking for extensions later; the system won't budge on this kind of thing.

Candidates actually get a little breathing room to tweak their forms from June 15th through the 18th . But that window is closing too. Admit cards? You’ll see those come out two days before the test itself, which means you need to be ready for September 6th, 2026, Sunday .

The exam itself is massive. They are running it across 132 cities, in twenty-seven different languages. It’s not just one test; it’s a whole operation spread out everywhere. And the results aren't coming right away either we’re talking about waiting until the end of October to see what happens.

Eligibility Criteria

Now, let's talk eligibility. This is where things get complicated. You can't just jump in anywhere. The Central Board of Secondary Education, CBSE, has made a big shift this year. No more picking your city. They are randomly assigning exam centers now. And there’s no going back on that. Requests to change the allotted city or date? Absolutely not entertained. It's all random allocation now.

Eligibility for Paper 1 (Classes 1 through 5)

Eligibility for Paper 1 that covers Classes 1 through 5 is based on some specific qualifications, depending on what grade you finished. If you are aiming for that paper, you need certain educational backing. For instance, if you passed the 12th grade with at least 50% marks, you have a few paths. You could pair that up with a two-year D.El.Ed deGree. Or maybe you have a four-year B.Ed hanging around. There are specific routes for Special Education too, involving the D.El.Ed in that case.

Eligibility for Paper 2 (Classes 6 through 8)

Then there’s Paper 2, which covers Classes 6 through 8. The requirements shift slightly here. If you finished your graduation and have a two-year D.El.Ed, that works. Or maybe you did the 12th grade with 50% marks, plus a four-year B.Ed. There’s also an option for those who completed their deGree along with a four-year integrated BA/BSc/B.Ed combination. And for Special Education in this section, graduation with 50% marks and a B.Ed is another path. It all depends on what certificate you actually possess.

Fee Structure

The fees are structured differently depending on the category.

  • General candidates or those under OBC-NCL: It’s Rs 1000 for just one paper. If you need both papers done, that jumps to Rs 1200.
  • SC, ST, and Divyang candidates: They get a different fee structure: only Rs 500 per paper, or Rs 600 if they require both.

Application Submission Steps

So how do you actually submit this mess? It’s six steps, simple enough but needs precision.

  1. First, you have to hit the official CTET website .
  2. Second, find that specific "Apply Online" link for the 2026 exam.
  3. Then, you need to fill in all your personal and academic details be meticulous here.
  4. Next up is uploading documents. You must upload a clear photograph and signature exactly how they want it.
  5. And then comes the payment part. You pay the application fee using whatever online method works for you, debit card, net banking, anything that gets the money through.
  6. Finally, submit everything. Download that confirmation copy immediately; keep it safe for later.

Passing Marks

And what about passing? The qualifying marks are pretty strict too. For general category folks, you need to hit at least 90 out of 150 that’s 60% minimum. But if you fall into the SC or ST categories, the bar is a little lower, they only ask for 82 out of 150 marks, which is 55%. It's a tight squeeze, but that’s the rule.
