NEET-UG 2026 Re-examination City Intimation Slips Released

The National Testing Agency finally dropped the city intimation slips for the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination on Sunday. This is for candidates who are still planning to take the test, scheduled for June 21st.
You can check and download your assigned examination city now. Just log into the official NTA portal with your application number and password. It’s a simple step, but they really pushed for everyone to check these locations.
The agency posted this on X, basically urging everyone to verify where they’re supposed to sit before the exam actually happens. It’s a kind of mandatory check, I guess.
There’s a bit of a distinction here that people need to grasp. This slip? It is absolutely not the admit card. It just shows the city where your testing centre is set up.
“This is NOT the Admit Card,” the agency clarified. “It only shows your exam city. The actual Admit Card will be issued later.” That kind of bureaucratic hedging always seems to happen.
They also mentioned that they tried to make things easier. The testing body put in effort to allot candidates their preferred examination cities wherever they could manage it. Still, things are clearly complicated.
Candidates are being told to keep checking the official NTA websites constantly. That’s where they’ll find updates on the admit cards and whatever else comes up regarding the exam.
Now, we have to talk about the bigger picture, why is this happening at all?
The NEET-UG 2026 test, which is the gateway for everyone trying to get into undergraduate medical courses across the country, started on May 3rd. That’s the original date.
But things changed.
The NTA cancelled that exam on May 12th. Why? Allegations of a question paper leak. That kind of controversy just throws everything into chaos. It sparked massive nationwide worry about the whole integrity of the testing process. Investigations kicked off immediately.
The Central Bureau of Investigation is currently digging into that alleged leak and all the related irregularities. It’s ongoing.
And because of that investigation, the NTA announced a fresh re-examination. That’s why we’re back to the table. The new test is slated for June 21st.
Lakhs of candidates are expected to take this re-test. They are all chasing those spots for MBBS, BDS, and those other undergraduate medical programmes. It’s a huge group, really.
The re-test itself is going to be pen-and-paper mode. It’s running from 2 pm to 5:15 pm. This will happen across 551 cities in India, plus fourteen cities abroad too. It’s a lot of locations.
It feels like a huge administrative headache, doesn't it? All this back and forth, the investigations, and then trying to reschedule everything. Just keep watching those official channels. That’s all anyone can do right now.
