Accountability and Ethics: The Fallout of a Workplace Controversy

That guy from Gurugram who blew up online over a joke he made on Pranit More’s show is now facing real consequences.
Himanshu Jangra was the one involved. He showed up on that episode and brought up some stuff about a date. Apparently, he said he asked for "sexual favours" in return for dinner back then. It was all tied to how he spent money.
He was working at Starvik Design, a design company based out of Gurugram. That’s where the trouble started.
The initial bit of drama happened when himanshu told the comedian and everyone watching about his date and the biryani bill around three hundred and seventy rupees. After dinner, when the woman asked him to drop her off, he reacted by saying he needed to "recover" that money.
He actually said something like, “I spent three hundred and seventy rupees, so I’m going to get my money’s worth.” It was a clear hint about wanting more than just a meal.
That line really caught fire online.
The company founder stepped in after the noise got too loud. He posted on their official page. He said they had seen the clips circulating everywhere. And he made it crystal clear: what was shown wasn't right. It didn’t align with anything the company stood for.
He talked about reviewing things internally. Asking female employees what happened. They told him himanshu was fine at work. Professional. Respectful. Hardworking. Well-behaved.
But then he shifted. He said that what happened outside the office mattered. That his responsibility stretched beyond just the workplace. It included the team, the clients, everything they built there. So they decided to part ways with him.
Then came the reflection. The founder added something heavy. A person can mess up. They make terrible mistakes. But people have to face what happens. We shouldn’t become a place where nobody learns or apologizes or changes. Social media trolling, especially aimed at someone so young twenty-two years old that carries weight for a long time.
He hoped himanshu would look back on this. Learn from it. That we hold people accountable, sure. But there has to be space for growth and change too.
The reaction online was split wide open. Some people cheered the company for firing him. Others slammed them for still trying to defend him. It felt like a battle over what kind of accountability matters.
One person just said, “That action is appreciated.”
But there were others pushing back hard against that defense. One guy commented about how it was worse to try and protect him right now. He felt like they should just let him deal with the consequences for his actions.
Then you got people questioning why female employees in the company were still defending him. It raised this question: what kind of mindset is really running things?
Someone else jumped in, talking about expectations. They suggested letting there be room to learn. And then they brought up something broader. Funny how we expect women to just absorb things and men to just learn. A strange idea that the expectation is always for women to bleed and men to figure it out.
Another voice said straight up: Don’t speak for him. Let him apologize. Then we'll see what happens. Defending someone shows your value, right?
But then there was a sharp counter. Someone argued that a gentleman wouldn't have acted like that in the first place. That defense of his mindset doesn’t make sense. Respect and decency define a man not some bad behavior he displayed. We don’t need more men who think that way. We need more men who actually know how to treat people with basic human dignity, not just what they imagine is expected.
