BJP Central Election Committee Meeting and Electoral Discussions

The BJP’s Central Election Committee actually got together on Sunday. It happened at the Prime Minister’s residence in New Delhi. A bunch of names were there—Nitin Nabin, the party president, plus Union ministers like Nadda, Rajnath Singh, and Amit Shah. And the national general secretary (organisation), BL Santhosh. Devendra Fadnavis, Maharashtra’s Deputy CM, was also there, along with other folks from the committee.

It was a two-hour thing, mostly about elections. Specifically, the Rajya Sabha seats across ten states, plus those bypolls. They also touched on the Legislative Council elections in Maharashtra and a few other places. Those Maharashtra MLC candidates got announced late Sunday night.

Nitin Nabin and Santhosh were the ones presenting the picture. They gave the CEC a big overview of what was coming up with the Rajya Sabha and those MLC contests.

They went through the state-by-state prospects. How the BJP looked for winning those seats. The NDA’s chances.

Sources floated that the math was looking a bit better. They figured the BJP might snag three or four extra Rajya Sabha seats beyond what they already had pending elections.

Prime Minister Modi stepped in, though. He told the state units to really dig into the electoral arithmetic for their seats. He suggested the party leadership should wait. Review everything. Get the detailed feedback first.

No one got bogged down in naming specific people during the chat. It was more about the overall scenario. The expected wins. The whole state picture. MLC elections were mentioned too, but no specific candidates were brought up.

The CEC did sign off on things for the Legislative Council elections. They authorized the national president and the state units to finally nail down those candidates.

This meeting felt heavy. It’s worth noting because usually, the BJP doesn't hold these big CEC sessions just for Rajya Sabha candidates. So, Sunday’s discussion felt pretty significant.

Then, after that, Modi had a separate chat with the senior leaders. Nabin, Santhosh, Amit Shah, Rajnath Singh were all involved. They looked at organizational readiness. They talked about appointments. Both nationally and in the states.

There’s a feeling floating around, you know? Party insiders are whispering that Nitin Nabin’s team might be announced soon. Like, next week maybe. This whole Sunday meeting felt like the last official session before some kind of reshuffle happens.

Nabin also called a meeting for the national office-bearers on Monday. It seems like that gathering might be the last time that particular group is meeting before some new organizational structure gets unveiled. Things are moving fast, it feels like.
