Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie Legal Entanglements and Recent Developments

Years after that massive split, the legal entanglement between Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie just doesn’t seem to be over. Divorce wrapped up in late 2024, sure, but the fallout from their shared business stuff keeps popping up in court.
The newest drama is centered on Château Miraval . That French winery and estate they used to share? It’s still a hot topic. Pitt managed to snag a favorable ruling recently regarding Jolie’s move to sell her share of the property.
But there’s more going on behind the scenes. Court documents, cited by Page Six, point to something much messier happening in Michigan. A judge ordered Todd Culyba, who used to be General Counsel for the Stoli Group, to show up for more deposition testimony.
This whole thing stems from a deposition back in December. Culyba reportedly refused to answer thirty-three questions about Jolie selling her ownership stake in Château Miraval to Tenute del Mondo, a company tied to the Stoli Group.
Pitt’s lawyers were pushing for details on how the deal was actually structured. They wanted to know about Yuri Shefler, the guy running the Stoli Group. The judge decided that attorney-client privilege couldn't just be used to hide the business side of the transaction. So, Culyba has to reappear. He has to answer those questions, plus whatever else comes up.
It’s a messy history. Back in 2022, Pitt sued, claiming Jolie sold her interest in Miraval without his okay. He insisted there was some aGreement needing mutual consent before any sale. Jolie, naturally, has kept denying any such aGreement ever existed.
This ruling came right after Jolie got her own win in California. Earlier this month, a Los Angeles judge blocked Pitt’s attempt to see a batch of private emails related to the winery sale. The court basically said there wasn't enough legal ground to ignore the attorney-client privilege.
Jolie’s lawyer, Paul Murphy, painted that as a huge victory for his client. He argued Pitt’s hunt for those papers crossed a line. He pointed out that Pitt asked for a bunch of privileged documents—starting with 126—and then scaled it back to twenty-two. He got none of them. Murphy felt it showed a pattern. Trying to dig into Jolie’s private communications with her team.
Still, that California decision had a catch. It was issued without prejudice. That means Pitt’s lawyers can still bring up the whole thing later if they find a different angle.
Meanwhile, things are shifting away from the vineyards. Pitt is tangled up in another fight, this one about his skincare line. Multiple reports say the Malibu brand Beau D is suing Pitt over the name of his luxury label, Beau Domaine.
The company is claiming the branding is too close to their own stuff. It could confuse shoppers. Brandon Palas, the founder of Beau D, claims there were settlement talks before it blew up into a lawsuit. They’re asking for more than seventy-five thousand dollars, plus an injunction to stop using the Beau Domaine name.
And honestly, people are starting to look at the kids now. The focus has drifted toward the children. Reports are floating around that several of them are actively trying to shed the Pitt name.
Maddox Chivan Jolie-Pitt filed paperwork to legally change his name to Maddox Chivan Jolie. He cited personal reasons. It follows moves by some of his siblings. Maddox was professionally known as Maddox Jolie when working on Jolie’s film Couture .
Shiloh, for instance, legally removed Pitt from her name once she turned eighteen. Vivienne was listed as Vivienne Jolie for that Broadway thing, The Outsiders . Zahara, she just went by Zahara Marley Jolie when she was in college. It’s all just shifting, isn't it?
