CBSE Portal Issues: Student Complaints and Official Statements

The Central Board of Secondary Education, or CBSE , keeps saying their portal for checking scanned Class 12 answer sheets and applying for re-evaluation is totally fine. That’s what they keep reiterating. But you see, students are still screaming about technical problems on social media.

There’s this whole mess going on. Login failures, payment glitches, the whole thing just being inaccessible.

CBSE tried to respond, saying on May 20th the online system was running smoothly. They claimed a lot of students had already finished the application process without issue.

They posted something fresh on X, the microblogging site, saying, “The portal for applying for scanned copies of Class XII answer books is now fully functional. We thank students, parents, and schools for their patience and cooperation.” Sounds official.

But that doesn't stop the noise.

The board did admit something, though. They mentioned that heavy traffic can cause delays. Especially when it comes to payment status updates. They warned that because of the sheer volume of requests, temporary delays might happen. And they told everyone to avoid repeated submissions if they run into that kind of lag.

Students, though. They aren't buying the smooth part.

Despite the board’s clarification, the complaints keep pouring in. People are still talking about CAPTCHA errors. Login failures. Server crashes. And payment problems. It feels like the whole re-evaluation process is just broken for them.

One user on X called it a “nice joke.” Another was more frustrated. They said, “It’s been thirty-six hours, no update. I tried paying twice, the amount got deducted three times, but it still just says payment pending.”

Meanwhile, the numbers they released felt almost deliberately separate from the reality students were facing.

CBSE put out a statement detailing the actual success rate. They claimed that over 1.27 lakh students successfully submitted requests for more than 3.87 lakh scanned answer sheets within three hours of the portal opening on May 20th.

That’s the official line.

They said, “1,27,146 applications for obtaining 3,87,399 scanned answer books were submitted successfully by 7:30 pm on 20.05.26, within three hours of the portal opening.”

Earlier, there was this fact-check. CBSE had rejected claims that the scanning and evaluation process got messed up because people weren't prepared or ran out of time. They called those allegations “factually incorrect.” They insisted the OSM system was set up fairly, transparently, with strict supervision at every step of the evaluation.

It’s all just moving in circles, isn't it? The official numbers versus the actual, frustrating experience of trying to get those papers.
