CBSE Scrutiny and Leadership Structure

The whole situation with the CBSE right now is a mess.

They’re grappling with serious scrutiny over the On-Screen Marking system. Allegations keep coming—answer-sheet mismatches, blurry scans, glitches on the portal, and just general concerns about the whole tender process.

And suddenly, the focus has jumped. It’s not just about the system errors anymore. Now everyone is looking at the people running this massive school board.

Heads are definitely going to roll in the CBSE . The Ministry of Education is intensifying its probe into these alleged irregularities. Accountability is expected to be fixed everywhere, at multiple levels.

So who are we talking about? The people who actually run things.

Rahul Singh
the Chairman. He’s the chief executive, overseeing everything—policy, exams, academics, administration. He’s an IAS officer, currently leading the board.
Himanshu Gupta
the Secretary. He handles the administrative heavy lifting. Finance, legal stuff, public relations. He’s the administrative backbone.
Dr. Sanyam Bhardwaj
the Controller of Examinations. He’s probably the most visible during exam season. He manages all the Class 10 and 12 board exams, the result processing, the whole evaluation system across the country. That’s a lot of pressure on him.
Dr. Praggya M. Singh
the Director for Academics. She deals with curriculum development, academic reforms, trying to set the learning frameworks.
Dr. Biswajit Saha
who heads up Skill Education. That covers the vocational programs, the industry links they’re trying to push into schools.
Manoj Kumar Srivastava
the Director for Training. He’s responsible for making sure teachers get the capacity building, the professional development.
I Margaret Catherine
the Director for IT and Projects. She manages the digital infrastructure, the technology behind the exams and all the online services.
Jaiprakash Chaturvedi
the Director for Affiliation. He’s the one dealing with school recognition, inspections, and all the compliance requirements.
J K Yadav
running the CTET administration. That’s the Central Teacher Eligibility Test. A huge exam, and he manages that whole system.
Sanjib Das
the Director for Professional Examinations. He oversees all the exam-related functions managed by the board.
Vivek Kumar Singh
the Chief Vigilance Officer. He’s supposed to be keeping an eye on integrity, on fighting corruption within the whole operation.

It’s a complex setup. The Chairman is supported by all these department heads. Secretary, Controller of Exams, Directors for Academics, Training, IT, Skill Education, Professional Exams, and regional offices.

Ultimately, the whole board operates under the Department of School Education and Literacy, which sits under the Ministry of Education. It’s all tied up there.
