FIR Filed Against Yograj Singh Over Remarks in Web Series Lukkhe

An FIR just landed against former cricketer and actor Yograj Singh in Chandigarh. It’s all about some alleged anti-women remarks made in his web series, Lukkhe . The complaint itself was filed on May 14 by advocate Ujjwal Bhasin, along with Jatin Verma.

The core issue seems to be certain dialogues from a viral scene in the series. These lines are alleged to have been offensive toward working women, promoting misogyny, and generally stirring up public sentiment.

Yograj Singh, naturally, responded. He reportedly filed an application for anticipatory bail. What’s interesting is the argument he made through his lawyers. He basically insisted that the clip came from a fictional web series. He was playing a character. He was bound by a contract.

The court, meanwhile, issued notices to the state. They asked for a response by May 20.

Then there’s the reaction from the family. When people reached out about the FIR on Friday, May 15, Yograj’s youngest son, Victor Singh, seemed genuinely surprised. He said he thought they would just let it go. He mentioned they get stuck in contracts too. He just wanted to call his legal team and then talk. So sorry, no comment right now. That was the only thing he offered.

No follow-up came back after that. Silence.

The scene itself, the one that caused all this noise, is pretty stark. It blew up online. It involves a moment in Lukkhe . Yograj’s character allegedly made derogatory comments about a female police officer. The dialogue was quoted as: “a woman’s place is at the stove during the day and for intimacy at night.”

That line hit hard. The complainants argued it insulted working women. It normalized really regressive views.

It’s not the first time Yograj Singh has found himself in hot water, though. There’s a history there. Back in 2024, he accused MS Dhoni of “destroying” his son Yuvraj Singh’s career and shortening his playing years.

And then there was something from 2025. Yograj claimed that when he was playing, after getting dropped from the team, he had gone to Kapil Dev’s house with a pistol. The intention was to shoot him. But he later said he decided against it.

Yuvraj Singh later stepped in publicly. He apologized to MS Dhoni and Kapil Dev for the controversial things his father had said back then. It’s a messy track record.

Speaking of the show, Lukkhe itself. It stars a bunch of names. Raashii Khanna, Palak Tiwari, King, Lakshvir Saran, Shivankit Parihar, Nakul Roshan Sahdev, Kritika Bharadwaj, and Yograj Singh are all involved. It’s set against the backdrop of Punjab’s underground rap scene. It follows a young athlete who goes undercover to take down a narcotics network.

It was created by Agrim Joshi and Debojit Das Purkayastha. It premiered on Prime Video on May 8th.

But the trouble didn't stop there. Apart from the FIR against Yograj, the series itself drew backlash online. Some people in the Sikh community got uncomfortable. This was because Raashii Khanna’s character was named “Gurbani.” A sacred Sikh religious term. Still, nothing official has happened on that front legally. Raashii, though, has gotten some praise for how she played the police officer role.
