And 22k gold? That was Rs 1,37,350 per ten grams. Don’t forget, those numbers don’t include GST or the making charges. Always those extra bits.
Silver, meanwhile, the spot prices across the country were sitting at Rs 1,50,000 per kilogram. A bit of movement there.
On the MCX, things were trading down marginally in the morning.
Look at the international side. COMEX gold futures? They were steady. Hovering around $4,676 an ounce. Same for silver, stuck near $72 per ounce.
And that context matters, doesn't it?
Gold has been taking a serious hit this month. It’s fallen more than fourteen percent already. That’s the steepest drop since October 2008. It’s all tied up with the US dollar, which has climbed over two percent since that whole US-Israeli conflict kicked off on February 28th. The pressure is real.
So, what actually drives these numbers in India? It’s a mess of things. International rates, import duties, taxes, the way the exchange rates wobble. All of it piles up and determines what you see on the street every day.
Gold itself is more than just metal here. It’s cultural. It’s deeply financial. People treat it as an investment, sure, but it’s also tied up in everything—weddings, festivals. It’s woven into the fabric.
