Investigation and Legal Battles Surrounding the Bhopal Death Case

That was Monday. But even while they were doing that, Samarth Singh, Twisha’s husband, was talking to the investigators.

It’s not just about the hanging anymore. It’s about the entire atmosphere surrounding the death. The case, which started with her being found hanging at their marital home in Bhopal’s Katara Hills back on May 12th, has now been handed over entirely to the Central Bureau of Investigation, the CBI. That shift in jurisdiction, that handover, changes everything. It means the focus is shifting, the gears are grinding into a different set of machinery.

Meanwhile, the parallel tracks keep running. You have the court proceedings happening simultaneously.

The SIT’s work itself was intense. They spent those two hours recreating the scene, and then they spent nearly three hours questioning Samarth Singh. And during those questions, things got messy. Police sources reported that Samarth kept trying to steer the conversation away from the critical period—the time he was allegedly absconding. There was a clear attempt to mislead them.

And then there are the claims from the family. That’s another layer of complexity piled on top of the death itself. Twisha’s family has thrown accusations. Dowry harassment. Domestic violence. Mental torture. These aren't just whispered rumors; they are official claims being brought forward.

The FIR itself, the formal charge, brings these allegations into the legal arena. It states that Samarth Singh brought Twisha to AIIMS Bhopal after allegedly claiming she had hanged herself at home around ten-twenty pm on May 12th. The initial police reports, the post-mortem findings, they tell a different story, or maybe just a piece of the truth. The report noted an antemortem hanging by ligature. But it also mentioned something else, something that complicates the picture: multiple antemortem injuries. Simple ones, possible blunt force trauma elsewhere on the body. That detail, that conflicting evidence, it just adds another layer of ambiguity to the whole narrative.

The police registered the FIR on May 15th, after hearing statements from the family and looking at those medical reports. It was a reaction to the family’s claims, certainly.

The family’s account is very specific about the events leading up to the death. They allege dissatisfaction with the dowry given during the marriage, on December 9th, 2025. That date, the context of the money, it’s all tied up in the accusation of dowry harassment.

There were specific moments they pointed out during the interrogation that felt charged. Family members claimed Twisha had spoken to her mother late that night, at nine-forty-one pm.

The investigation is now being pushed through different legal channels. The CBI, after taking over, invoked specific sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita , along with provisions from the Dowry Prohibition Act . These are the same charges the state police had already looked at.

That’s a big thing. It signals that the focus needs to stay sharp, untainted by outside pressures.

And there’s the separate fight happening in the High Court. This involves bail pleas. Giribala Singh, the mother, is currently serving as the chairperson of the Bhopal Consumer Court. There were petitions challenging the anticipatory bail he had received. The High Court, when it heard these petitions on Monday, decided to push the hearing back. They adjourned it to May 27th.

During that adjournment, Giribala Singh’s lawyer pushed back. They argued for more time. They suggested that the petitions filed by Twisha’s father and the Madhya Pradesh government were based on different grounds. They needed separate responses. It’s that kind of procedural friction, the constant need to argue over which facts matter most, which narrative holds the most weight in this drawn-out affair.

The whole situation is moving, but it’s not smooth.
