Ishaan Khatter Receives Honorary Membership from Indian Army

You know, some things in an actor's life just don't stop at box office or applause. For Ishaan Khatter , this was one of those moments. He recently got a pretty rare honour from the Indian Army. And honestly, watching his reaction online, it’s clear this one sticks with him.

He got conferred honorary membership to the 45 Cavalry of the Indian Armoured Corps. This came for playing Captain Balram Singh Mehta in Pippa . It wasn't just for the role, though. It was about the respect he showed for the regiment, for its whole legacy.

The ceremony itself turned into something really warm, emotional for him. He shared tons of photos and videos from that evening online, letting everyone see the memorable bits. There was this plaque, too, presented to him by the military folks. The writing on it was pretty heavy: “45 Cavalry Proudly Confers Upon Mr Ishaan Khattar The Privilege of Honorary Membership of the Officers’ Mess in recognition of his authentic portrayal of a 45 Cavalry officer in Pippa and his abiding respect for the Regiment’s ethos. Once A Cavalier, Always A Cavalier. Veer Bhogya Vasundhara.”

He posted some cheerful stuff too. Pictures with family, people who were there for him. One shot, he was just laughing, doing some kind of playful dance in a white shirt and black pants. Another clip showed him dancing around, inviting some army officials and even some little kids to join in. Just pure joy.

And then there was this tennis cap. It had the insignia of the 45 Cavalry on it. He shared that in a carousel.

He wrote a note along with all those pictures. It really hit you. He said something like, “The honour of a lifetime to be conferred upon an honorary membership of 45 Cavalry of the Indian Armoured Corps – which I may now proudly call my regiment! There is no bigger acknowledgment.” He added that he just hopes to always be serving humbly, no matter how. He mentioned coming from a life totally removed from military stuff. It’s mind-boggling. He said he just did his best as an artist to bring the cavalier role to life, but now it’s fuel. Fuel to keep giving his heart and soul to every role he takes on. He thanked everyone for that evening at the XLV Officers Mess. Veer Bhogya Vasundhara . Jai Hind.

It’s wild how that connects to the film. Pippa , which was directed by Raja Krishna Menon, was based on Brigadier Balram Singh Mehta’s memoir, The Burning Chaffees . That story followed Captain Balram Singh Mehta and his family during the Indo-Pakistan War of '71, on the eastern front, leading to the liberation of Bangladesh.

Of course, the title Pippa itself, that was inspired by the PT-76 amphibious war tank used by the 45 Cavalry regiment. You know, the thing that floats on water, like that ghee tin in Punjabi slang. Pippa . It just sounds like movement, like crossing marshes and rivers easily.

And the movie itself, besides Ishaan, had Mrunal Thakur, Priyanshu Painyuli, and Soni Razdan in key spots. Just a bunch of people involved in that story.
