McLean Disappearance and Search Operation

McLean was 45. His remains were discovered on May 22 in Lions Bay. It followed a massive search operation in the area.

As investigators keep digging into this mess, one of McLean’s close friends has started talking publicly about his disappearance and death. Acting coach Jeff Seymour, for instance, told The Canadian Press that he immediately felt something was off when McLean just didn’t show up for work.

“He was meticulous about everything,” Seymour said. “There was no way he would just blow it off or stay up too late. As soon as I heard he hadn’t made it on Saturday morning, I knew there was big trouble.”

Seymour had known McLean for about eight years. He’d met him during one of his coaching sessions in Los Angeles. They became close friends. Seymour mentioned that McLean had only visited him just weeks before he died.

“We had the time of our lives,” Seymour reflected. “It was a really wonderful week. And then I heard this. It’s just so hard to comprehend when something like this happens.”

He paused there. “It just doesn’t make any sense. He was incredibly situationally aware.”

Seymour described McLean as a quiet, disciplined guy. It was hard for him to grasp how someone could have been harmed.

“I bring it up because for the life of me, I don’t know how anybody could get the drop on Stew,” he added.

He continued, talking about the general feeling. “Everybody loved this guy. He spent a lot of time reading and just being at home out there in Squamish.”

The emotional toll of the loss hit Seymour hard. “It’s so crushing,” he said. “It hits me in ways I’ll suddenly think, ah, Stu. And I realize I can’t call him now. It’s just a shocker. I would love to see justice served.”

They said search teams had looked across a lot of territory. Crystal Falls, Tunnel Point, Brunswick Beach, Magnesia Creek—all places were searched.

The organization noted that during the operation, search teams found suspicious evidence. They immediately transferred the investigation back to the Squamish RCMP to take over.

Cpl. Esther Tupper commented to The Independent about where things stand. She said authorities are still gathering evidence. They are trying to piece together where McLean was moving before May 15, 2026.

“As the investigation continues to unfold,” she said, “homicide investigators are working to collect and analyze evidence.

Entertainment Weekly had mentioned earlier that the Squamish RCMP had already voiced concerns about McLean’s “health and well-being” before the case moved over to homicide detectives.

The talent agency shared a tribute on Facebook after the news broke. They called him a “dedicated, professional, eager, and endlessly funny” actor.
