PM's Vision on Infrastructure, Cooperation, and Development Projects

Modi talked about water disputes yesterday. He asked the states to just cooperate, get things cleared quickly, and use technology for monitoring. The Ken-Betwa river-linking project , that one, should be the model.

He chaired the 51st PRAGATI meeting. It was huge. Seven major infrastructure projects, all spanning railways, power, and roads across nine states. Worth about thirty thousand crore rupees.

The real point, though, was about delays. He stressed that when public projects stall, it doesn't just cost more. It means people don't get the services and infrastructure they need in time. That's a heavy thing.

“During yesterday’s session,” he said on X later, “we reviewed projects like railways, power, and roads. But we also looked at ports, the Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0 , and other social schemes.”

That brought up the river links again. The Ken-Betwa. He really pushed for it to be a template. Cooperation. Timely clearances. Using tech to watch everything.

States were encouraged to look for similar chances. Water conservation. Recharge groundwater. Efficient irrigation. All integrated. That’s how you get long-term water security.

PRAGATI itself is this platform. ICT enabled. Multi-modal. It’s supposed to make governance proactive. Get things done fast. Central and state governments finally working together.

Those seven infrastructure projects? They aren't just numbers. They are key to growth. Public welfare. They needed timelines. Coordination between agencies. Getting rid of the snags.

Then there was the power side. He pushed hard on rooftop solar. Especially in cities, residential areas, public places. It needs to be mission mode. Reduce costs. Better energy security. Clean energy at home.

And the ports? Vadhavan Port. That needed to be a model. Not just a port. It had to be multi-modal. Every transport mode flowing together. Coastal shipping, inland water, freight corridors, high-speed rail, highways, airports—all linked up. A future-ready system.

It shouldn't just be a port. It’s a national gateway. Connected everywhere.

The Swachh Bharat Mission 2.0 needed real action. Not just building stuff. It needs measurable results. Monitoring. People getting involved. Stakeholders actually converging.

He asked for solid waste infrastructure to move. Waste processing plants. GOBARdhan plants. Stop the delays. Every delay hits people, regional growth, public money. Central and state governments have to be proactive. Remove the roadblocks. Execute faster.

And something else came up. Canal networks. We should explore using them better. Put solar panels along them. Over them. Clean electricity generation. It saves land. Less evaporation. More energy. More money from water infrastructure.

At the start of the meeting, the Cabinet Secretary, Somanathan, mentioned something. Following the PM’s direction, they started a monthly review of social sector schemes at the state level.

That system is meant to catch issues early. Faster fixes. More accountability at the state and district level. The Swachh Bharat Mission got reviewed at the state level first. Just starting there.
