Thol Thirumavalavan, the VCK chief, dropped a claim that really throws the whole Tamil Nadu political scene into chaos. He basically said the DMK and AIADMK were actually playing some kind of power game. They explored these huge power-sharing ideas. Including offering him the chief minister’s seat. All to stop C Joseph Vijay and his Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam from actually getting the government.
This wasn't some quiet backroom stuff. It happened right when the government formation drama was at its absolute peak earlier this month. Thirumavalavan confirmed these talks took place. Between the rival Dravidian giants.
He pointed to May 7th. Separate invites came in. He said CM Stalin wanted to meet them. But then the story shifts. He mentioned the AIADMK was pushing for them to join forces. To make Edappadi Palaniswami the chief minister. Thirumavalavan suggested the DMK ’s future itself was turning into a question mark. The Left parties were supposedly thinking the same thing.
It sounds like weeks of behind-the-scenes maneuvering. Negotiations happening while everyone was fighting over who would lead.
Then came the bigger punch. Thirumavalavan floated another idea. On May 8th, a fresh proposal allegedly surfaced. The idea was to project him as the chief ministerial face. Palaniswami would take the deputy role. Thirumavalavan just laughed it off. Said something like that could never actually happen in Tamil Nadu.
And wait, there was more. He claimed he kept getting offers. Even after the VCK signed support for Vijay’s TVK . He said he was offered the chief minister post right then.
Of course, the VCK eventually backed Vijay. They helped TVK cross that majority mark. Paved the way for Vijay to take over as CM.
But the real mess isn't just about the big parties. It drags in the AIADMK ’s own internal meltdown. There’s this rebel faction inside the AIADMK . They’ve been accusing the top leadership of trying to align with the DMK just to block Vijay’s rise.
The EPS camp, meanwhile, is making noise too. They allege that those rebel AIADMK legislators were promised Cabinet berths if they backed TVK . It’s all tangled up.
And then you have the name Rajinikanth. He surfaced in the political noise. Rumors swirled that he had somehow helped smooth things over. Facilitated communication channels between the DMK and AIADMK during those tense talks.
But Rajinikanth just shut it down. He said he knew Stalin for decades. He was upset about Kolathur. Is it even possible to discuss such things when the political tension is this high? He dismissed the whole speculation.
It just shows how things spun out. TVK started short of the halfway mark. Then all the rival camps scrambled for numbers. And that opened the door for scenarios that everyone thought were completely impossible just a short time ago. It was a total unraveling.
