Political Tussle and Contenders in Kerala Amidst Congress Maneuvers

Posters are popping up around Wayanad. They’re aimed at senior Congress figures, Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi . It’s all just noise, really, but it signals something. AICC general secretary KC Venugopal is floating around as the potential next Chief Minister of Kerala.

The messages themselves are pretty pointed. They warned that if the Congress high command backs Venugopal, Wayanad will be the next Amethi. That kind of pressure.

Some of the posters went straight for Rahul and Priyanka. They told the Gandhi siblings to forget Wayanad. Said they wouldn't win there again. They blamed their "foolish decisions" for whatever mess is happening.

And Venugopal? He got hit too. One poster called him "nothing more than a bag carrier" of Rahul. They suggested protests would get uglier if the party leadership backed him. You could feel the growing unease, that internal tussle, even while all this is happening in the national capital.

The Congress-led UDF managed a solid 102 seats out of 140. A comeback, sure, after a decade. But that victory didn't bring peace. It just kicked off a fight. Supporters of the big names are pushing hard for the top job.

So, who are the real contenders? Three names are buzzing. VD Satheesan , KC Venugopal , and Ramesh Chennithala . It’s a classic power struggle, you know? Organizational weight versus actual leadership. Generational shifts bumping up against old experience. Delhi’s pull versus what the state unit actually wants. It’s messy.

Meanwhile, the real talks are happening. Rahul Gandhi met some former Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee presidents in Delhi on Tuesday. Trying to gauge the mood. Trying to stop the whole uncertainty from just spiraling.

Sources tell us those Kerala leaders brought their concerns to the party leadership. They hammered home their views on who should be CM. Venugopal, Satheesan, Chennithala—those names were clearly in the mix during the high command’s long deliberation.

K Muraleedharan, a former KPCC chief, said they expected an announcement by Wednesday. Just that.

V M Sudheeran, another former state president, had a deep chat with Rahul about the situation in Kerala. The public mood, he said. He just hoped the leadership would actually listen to what the people felt.

Things are still moving. The central leadership is holding wider talks. Even after party observers met up with some Congress MLAs to get their take, the leadership still talked it out with the main contenders and Sunny Joseph, the KPCC president.

Kerala is probably going to find out the name later on Wednesday. There’s a whisper that the high command might just announce it before noon. It’s all very uncertain right now.
