Saif Ali Khan's History and Association with Shah Rukh Khan
Saif Ali Khan, you know, the guy who’s in that Kartavya with Shah Rukh Khan backing it, recently started talking about his history with SRK. He brought up this long association they have. He mentioned offering SRK a role in Main Hoon Na .
But then, the story gets a little tangled. Director Farah Khan later called him. And she said no. Refused the offer.
Saif told Bollywood Hungama about it. He said, “He once called me for a movie that just didn’t happen. Shah Rukh asked me for Main Hoon Na ; he said there was a great part there. Then Farah called me later and said, ‘No, no, no.’”
He didn’t exactly spill which role was being talked about. But everyone figures it was Zayed Khan’s part, the one for Lucky.
He added, “I shouldn’t say these things, but I’m honest. This stuff will get highlighted somewhere. But yeah, Red Chillies is a good production company. They pick up really exciting ideas. It was cool getting an offer like that.”
It’s interesting how he frames it. Like, a bit of behind-the-scenes drama mixed with a compliment.
Earlier, in a chat with SCREEN , Saif actually praised SRK as a producer. He made a point. He said, “As a producer, SRK hasn’t really made his presence felt in the movie. One of the nice things producers do is give a lot of space and scope. This film was run by Pulkit, and they gave him the space by Red Chillies to do that. That’s really generous of them.”
He then shifted to the subjects. He said, “As a production company, the people they choose, the people they put together, they are really interesting. SRK has a huge love for cinema, and you can feel that in his production.”
When it came to the trailer launch for Kartavya , Saif said something different. He looked up to Shah Rukh Khan in many ways. He recounted that SRK told him there was a lovely script he wanted him to read and listen to. They went through that whole process, meeting the director. Once the film was done, SRK said it came out as a lovely movie. He was really happy with it. That was pretty much it.
Kartavya itself is coming out on May 15th. It’s got Rasika Dugal, Zakir Hussain, Sanjay Mishra, and Manish Chaudhari in some of the key spots. Just a bunch of names attached to the release date.
