Stray Dog Debate and Sonu Sood's Response in Punjab

A government move in Punjab about stray dogs has absolutely exploded online. People are talking, really talking, and even folks from the film industry are getting involved. Concerns are mounting about the dogs and how they’re being dealt with.

And then Sonu Sood jumped in. He posted something emotional, trying to push for kindness and actual solutions instead of just harsh actions.

It all kicked off because the Punjab government started pushing to clear out stray dogs from public spaces, following that Supreme Court ruling. As the news spread, it just blew up into a massive debate about safety, animal welfare, and, you know, where these animals should live.

Sonu Sood reacted pretty strongly. He dropped a video message on his social media. He was clearly disturbed by the reports and the visuals circulating online. He said something like, “I saw a tweet today where our CM Punjab ordered the removal of stray dogs. I’ve seen a lot of videos showing what’s allegedly happening to them after that. It was really disturbing.”

He touched on something important there. He pointed out the messy connection between communities and street animals. He mentioned that a lot of people actually feed and care for these dogs in their neighborhoods.

“But we have to remember,” he said. “Dogs are loyal creatures. Lots of people adopt strays and look after them every day. They aren't inherently harmful. Sure, there are times kids get bitten, but the people in those areas know which ones are the problem. They complain, and they get taken away, too.”

He pushed back on the idea of mass action. He questioned the scale of what was happening. “But now, imagine an order that every single dog in every neighborhood has to be removed, either euthanized or something. I’m asking you to spread this message. We need to actually find a way to stop this,” he urged.

Sonu also hammered home the need for something long-term. He suggested shelters and adoption drives. “I will try to make sure these stray dogs find homes. The government should build shelters for them. We talk about humanity and standing up for people, but we forget these loyal dogs on the streets. We need a way to stop this order.”

He ended his video with a plea. “People should adopt these dogs. Put a dupatta around your dog’s neck so they know someone is caring for them. Let’s raise our voice for the voiceless.”

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister, Bhagwant Mann, weighed in. He said the government will address the stray dog situation in areas with a lot of public movement. He said authorities will use whatever legal methods are allowed. That includes euthanasia if the dogs are deemed “dangerous and aggressive” and a threat to human life. This followed that Supreme Court order. He also mentioned plans to build shelters for the relocated animals.

Amidst all this noise, Sonu Sood also brought up another thread online. He talked to Alia Bhatt, who was getting slammed for a viral video from her Cannes appearance. Without naming her, he shared this wider message about kindness and support in public talk.

He posted on X, something about being on an international stage. “When one of our own walks onto a big stage, it should be pride, not a reason to look for flaws. Not every achievement needs validation from cameras or strangers to matter. The courage to stand there, carry your journey with grace, that’s an achievement in itself.”

He added, “In a world obsessed with trolling, choose encouragement. People building dreams don't have time to tear others down. Keep shining, my friend. The right people saw your light.” It was a shift, a sudden turn, moving from the dogs to something much lighter, trying to pull people back to focus on the real stuff.
