Upasana Singh Backs Shilpa Shinde on Sexual Harassment Claims

Upasana Singh jumped in for Shilpa Shinde. She’s backing her now, especially with all the noise happening about Shilpa admitting that the sexual harassment claims she brought against Sanjay Kohli, back nine years ago, were actually false.

A lot of the industry bodies and folks in television fraternity have been criticizing Shilpa’s admission. But Upasana just pushed people to stop overlooking that she actually admitted what she messed up.

She talked about it. She said she’s known Shilpa for years. Worked with her on shows. Three shows, she mentioned. You can’t just assume everyone is the same person.

She said, “I know Shilpa Shinde very well. We worked together on three shows. Not every human being is the same.”

Upasana didn’t try to defend what Shilpa did, mind you. But she felt people needed to look at the fact that Shilpa actually said sorry publicly, instead of just staying quiet.

There’s another side people rarely talk about. Upasana brought it up. Shilpa, she said, she has often stepped up for the junior artists and the crew when things got rough on set.

She talked about how kind Shilpa is. Like, if a spotboy or a makeup guy had a problem, Shilpa would step in. If someone needed food? Shilpa would help them. She’s really kind-hearted.

Then she started looking at the whole situation. She suggested you have to consider the context of that original fight.

“In our industry,” she said, “we have these moments where two people are fighting. Out of anger, people just cross the line and say things they don’t mean. Sometimes things get that bad.”

She looked back at Shilpa’s situation then. Maybe she didn’t have money. Maybe she just wanted to quit the show. Frustration piled up. Her case wasn’t seen as valid. That’s why she made that move.

But even now, those same producers are still working with her. They must have thought about it. They knew it was probably just a moment of heat.

The whole thing kicked off when Shilpa dropped that bomb on Bharti Singh’s podcast. She admitted the allegations against Sanjay Kohli were fake. That got the industry bodies— FWICE , AICWA —really fired up.

Upasana still feels the conversation needs to look at the fact that Shilpa chose to own her mistake publicly.

People are reacting because she confessed. If she had just stayed silent, maybe they wouldn’t be saying all these awful things. Instead of focusing on her courage, they’re just slamming her.

She concluded, “Haven’t people made mistakes themselves? She accepted hers. She confessed it to the world. I don’t know if I have the guts to do what she did. People can judge her, but she shouldn’t be painted as some villain.”

AICWA stepped in on Saturday. They called for serious action. They stressed that false allegations really damage a person’s reputation, their career, their family life. It’s not just some drama. It has real consequences.
