Vishal's Appeal and the Political Shift in Film Technology

Vishal, the actor, was pretty unhappy about how the Film Technology and Cinematograph portfolio got handed over to Minister Rajmohan. He felt the minister just didn't have the right experience for the job.

He took to his X handle to vent. It wasn't smooth, you know?

“Happy to see CM Joseph Vijay allocating ministries to the MLAs, that’s fine,” Vishal wrote. “But it’s just disheartening seeing Rajmohan in charge of the Film Technology stuff. How am I supposed to make our film industry’s demands heard? It’s bleeding out, there are so many reforms needed. We need someone who actually knows what’s happening in this industry, someone who has been part of the fraternity for thirty years, not someone with little or no experience.”

He pushed for real change. He asked the Chief Minister to actually look at things.

“Dear CM, you have to introduce a government ticketing window. That brings revenue, and it gives relief to the viewers paying thirty rupees for a ticket. And abolish the local body tax. We are the only state in India dealing with two taxes against the ‘one india one tax’ idea. Plus, increase the subsidy for small films every year. We’ve been asking for this for nine years now. It’s not about demeaning Mr. Rajmohan. It’s just what we need. God bless.”

That was the ask. A direct appeal for relief.

But this appeal didn't go unnoticed by others in the film circle. Raghava Lawrence, the actor-director, and producer T Siva pushed back a little.

Lawrence, the ‘Kanchana’ actor, actually seemed supportive of the CM’s move. He urged everyone to back the minister up. He said there needs to be a “fair opportunity” for Rajmohan to get settled into the role.

He tweeted something like, “Our CM Joseph Vijay wouldn’t have made this call without thinking things through. Let’s just give him some space. I hope Minister Raj Mohan does a good job for the film fraternity. I get the worries, especially with everything the industry is going through. But Minister Raj Mohan, as the Minister for Film Technology, he deserves a chance to settle in.”

T Siva, the producer, also threw his weight behind the allocation. He saw the potential.

He wrote that Minister Rajmohan wasn't just popular online. He had real experience. He even directed a film. And he had those strong connections in the cinema world. T Siva felt this was the right move for the Tamil cinema sector right now. He thanked the CM for the choice.

Meanwhile, the political scene in Tamil Nadu was totally shifting. It was one of those massive transitions you don’t forget. Actor-turned-politician Joseph Vijay took the reins as the thirteenth Chief Minister. It completely flipped the script.

It ended the long grip of the DMK and the AIADMK. A whole new era they called real, secular, social justice.

And the party that pulled it off? Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam. They won big. They became the single biggest party in the assembly, grabbing 108 seats. Things were moving fast, messy, and very loud.
