Main Vaapas Aaunga Box Office and Story

Not every movie just blows up right away. Some need time. They build that connection with people. Main Vaapas Aaunga seems to be doing exactly that. It’s been steadily gaining traction since it dropped. People are really starting to talk about it, even now into its second weekend.

The numbers show it's holding on. It hit some solid marks recently. On its ninth day in theaters, the film actually pulled in one of its strongest single-day collections yet. We’re talking ₹4.35 crore net just from that second Saturday alone, according to trade tracker Sacnilk. The total domestic net collection is pushing up toward ₹18.50 crore now. India gross figures are sitting around ₹22.10 crore overall.

It started off pretty modest, though. When it launched on June 12th, 2026, the opening was slow. Friday brought in just ₹1.15 crore. Collections picked up a bit Saturday ₹1.85 crore and then Sunday gave them a bump to ₹2.50 crore. That weekend was their peak. Then came the inevitable dip on Monday, collecting another ₹1.15 crore.

But it kept moving. It managed to stay steady through the week. Tuesday and Wednesday were okay. ₹1.65 crore and then ₹1.75 crore. Thursday finally brought some real momentum, hitting ₹2.20 crore from 2,138 shows alone. Day eight was another solid effort, adding ₹1.90 crore net before that big Saturday jump.

What makes it stick is the story itself. It’s heavy stuff. A narrative spanning generations. We follow this old man who has suffered a stroke while trying to make his way to Pakistan. As bits of his past start creeping back those memories his grandson starts putting together the pieces, uncovering life shaped by Partition trauma. Losses and relationships buried for decades are coming back into focus.

And then there’s the creative side. Imtiaz Ali got to work again with AR Rahman. This is their fifth time collaborating. Think about it: Rockstar , Highway , Tamasha ... they've done it before. It feels like a familiar, potent energy coming from that pairing.

Actor Vedang Raina recently spoke about the whole experience. He put something out on Instagram. He was talking about how much this project shifted him. He said things like maybe it’s too early to say, but Main Vaapas Aaunga changed everything for him. How he grew as an artist, and more than that, as a person. He couldn't pin that kind of change down with just a caption.

He thanked the team. Mentioning everyone involved the artists he looked up to, like Naseeruddin, Diljit Dosanjh, AR Rahman, Irshad Kamil, Sharvari. It wasn’t just a film for him. It felt special. Relevant. Pure. He was grateful just to have been part of that journey.
