Omraje Nimbalkar's Political Exit and the Justice Delayed

Omraje Nimbalkar, the Dharashiv MP, said Friday he’s thinking about leaving Shiv Sena (UBT). He apparently decided he needs to speak to people in his constituency before making a final call.

This came right after all those court proceedings finally cleared everyone in his father Pawanraje Nimbalkar's murder case. Twenty years later.

Omraje admitted he just doesn’t feel like continuing in politics anymore. He said he entered the game only to chase justice for his dad. And even after twenty years, nothing changed. What’s the point of staying involved?

“I feel like leaving politics,” he quoted. “I came into this just for my father’s justice. Twenty years later and I still haven't gotten it.” That was the line he put out to the Indian Express .

He mentioned feeling frustrated, helpless. He plans to meet people from his area on Sunday. Then, he’ll figure out what happens next with his political life.

There was some noise about him being upset with Uddhav Thackeray or the Sena leadership. Omraje pushed back hard on that idea. He insisted there was nothing against Uddhavji. He said he wasn't angry with him at all; he felt like he had always been supported.

He denied any criticism of Uddhav or Aaditya Thackeray, saying false news is flying around. “I never criticized them,” he stated flatly. “Never will.”

The background of this whole thing is heavy. Pawanraje Nimbalkar and his driver, Samad Kazi they were shot dead back in 2006 in Kalamboli. A lot of people got arrested then. Now the Mumbai court finally gave an acquittal to all those accused.

Omraje wrote something on X about it. He talked about twenty years and thirteen days spent just waiting for justice. His father, Pawarraje Nimbalkar Saheb, and Samad Kazi were brutally killed. And still, their families wait. Hope that some goddess of justice will finally deliver what’s owed against those who stained the blood bond.

He felt this whole situation was about something bigger. “This case is a struggle,” he added. “Against the arrogant power and the money that treats people like slaves. It ignores human life.”

Meanwhile, things got interesting around his exit plans. Speculation started swirling about Omraje potentially joining the Sena faction led by Eknath Shinde. This followed him skipping a party meeting in Delhi earlier this week. Some UBT workers in Dharashiv are reportedly angry. They plan to protest outside his house when he gets back from Mumbai.

Sushma Andhare, another senior leader in the UBT camp, said the party really hopes Omraje stays put. Sanjay Raut also floated a different angle he suggested Omraje might have expected a better verdict on his father’s case and decided to jump ship.

Omraje started things with Shiv Sena; he was an MLA from Osmanabad back in 2009. Then he snagged the Dharashiv Lok Sabha seat in 2019, and again in 2024. He’s become one of the key figures in Marathwada politics.
