Investigation into Alleged Donation Irregularities at Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple

The Special Investigation Team , probing those alleged irregularities surrounding donations at the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, reportedly found evidence pointing toward theft of money. It sounds like a serious mess.

They’re expected to hand their preliminary report over to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath either this Saturday or Sunday. That kind of timing suggests pressure, you know? A need for quick action.

The initial probe itself took six days in Ayodhya. Six days of digging. They dragged nearly 150 people in. Trust officials, management staff, the temple workers themselves, bank employees even folks involved in that counting process got questioned. It’s a lot of moving parts.

What they found is tangled. Sources hinted that CCTV footage examined by the team allegedly showed tampering with cash coming out of those donation boxes. And there’s this lingering suspicion some footage might have been deleted entirely. The SIT isn't just looking at simple negligence here; they seem to be sniffing around for some real conspiracy angles too.

The investigation zeroed in on specific names, naturally. Trust office bearer Anil Mishra and construction aide Gopal Rao came up as particularly suspicious. And then there’s the general secretary of the trust, Champat Rai , also under scrutiny. It seems like nearly twenty or twenty-five people linked to the temple management three trust bearers included were found either negligent or possibly involved in whatever went wrong with the donations.

The mechanism for monitoring and counting those donations? That was seriously broken. The probe uncovered major lapses there. They even pulled in six employees each from SBI and TCS during this investigation. FIRs might be filed against Tinnu Yadav, some of the counting staff, and certain bank personnel. It’s all getting messy with legal paperwork.

And you know what happened next? The SIT reportedly asked certain trust officials not to leave Ayodhya until their work was completely done. A kind of temporary lockdown, maybe? Keeping things contained while they figured out the full scope.

What they might recommend is huge changes. Not just minor tweaks. They could suggest reconstituting the entire temple trust structure. Appointing an executive officer, something on the lines of what’s done with the Kashi Vishwanath Temple setup. Then there’s this push to bring ex-officio government members into supervising donation counting. Regular audits? Making sure recruitment practices are transparent? That seems like the direction they might be pushing.

There's also that suggestion about banks they shouldn’t just deploy regular employees for handling sensitive counting work. They need a much stronger monitoring system overall. It feels like they want to overhaul how this whole operation runs, not just punish a few people.

Of course, this is only the preliminary stage. The actual official confirmation of everything still hangs in the air. Things are moving slowly, inevitably.
