MP Defections and Political Splits in Shiv Sena

Days after things started heating up after skipping that parliamentary meeting and fueling all the rebellion buzz MP Omraje Nimbalkar finally made his move on Sunday.

He announced he was joining the Eknath Shinde -led Shiv Sena .

That decision apparently came after talking things over with supporters and local party workers in his constituency. A fresh blow to Uddhav Thackeray’s camp, you have to admit.

“We decided,” Nimbalkar said when he spoke, “we are going to join the Shiv Sena and work under Eknath Shinde .” It felt like a direct shot at the leadership then.

This whole thing followed him holding those discussions with people back home just to figure out where he wanted to go politically. He was weighing options.

Meanwhile, things were moving on the ground too. Hingoli MP Nagesh Patil Ashtikar broke his silence recently about the Sena (UBT) revolt. He said he and some other rebel MPs hadn’t gone anywhere until June 18th. But then things shifted. Some remarks got made against them, a kind of swipe at Sanjay Raut , and that changed everything for him.

Ashtikar confirmed he had crossed over to the Eknath Shinde side. It just added another name to the growing list of defections facing Thackeray’s faction.

There was some chatter from his side too. PTI quoted one of Nimbalkar's supporters saying something about respect. He felt that if they weren't getting respect, then joining the Shinde Sena made sense.

He claimed words were used against their leader earlier. He suggested he would be valued in the Shinde group because he was working for the people day by day.

And then there was the local context bleeding into it. Nimbalkar brought up the local body elections. He said Thackeray’s party did nothing for the workers. They lost those polls. They incurred debt just from spending money on campaigning. It felt like a justification, you know?

Nimbalkar had mentioned that he would decide whether to leave Shiv Sena (UBT) after talking to people in his area. This came right after some news about his father’s murder case got cleared by the Mumbai sessions court. So, juggling political fallout and personal legal stuff that was a lot happening at once.

Ashtikar's move seemed to mirror that kind of friction too. He decided to switch sides after those comments were made against him, specifically referencing Raut. It just shows how quickly these internal party disaGreements translate into real splits. A whole ripple effect going through the camp.
