India’s Got Latent Season 2 Controversy and Reaction

Netflix and YouTube finally put out the first episode of India’s Got Latent Season 2 on Saturday. Alia Bhatt and Sharvari were there, along with Samay Raina hosting.

It was months of waiting, you know? And then this arrived. But honestly, the reaction online hasn't been great. A lot of viewers seemed pretty disappointed.

The whole thing got dragged into the mud again because of an Epstein Island joke. Seriously. It just put India’s Got Latent right back under a spotlight for public outrage. Some people called it tone-deaf, disturbing. Just another example of how this show walks that tightrope already you know, after all that drama with Ranveer Allahbadia earlier. Controversy seems to stick around.

What exactly happened? During the episode, comedian Avinash Agarwal came up and did a Donald Trump impression. Samay Raina asked for oil as part of a bit. And Avinash’s character just blurted out something about Epstein Island. “Come to the island my friend, there’s a lot of oil there."

That reference it landed terribly. It was supposed to be comedy? No. People got angry fast. One user on X wrote that it was disgusting. Another one called it a sick joke. They just weren't laughing.

The criticism wasn't just about the joke itself, though. It really hinged on the humor structure. A lot of people felt Samay Raina was the least funny person on the whole panel. Some viewers were pretty clear: if you liked the first season, don’t watch this one. You’ll hate the IGL .

It felt staged. That was a big theme. Throughout the episode, Samay kept trading these jabs with Alia and Sharvari about their films or public appearances. The comedians joined in too. But fans felt it wasn't spontaneous banter at all. It looked planned out.

There’s this sense that the show has changed itself. People miss the energy from Season 1. That chaotic, unscripted feeling? Gone. One comment hit hard: “Actually its looks more scripted than Bigg Boss.” Another one said they felt it was turning into some kind of TV serial or a Roadies audition. The raw stuff just disappeared.

People also complained about the format itself. It seemed like bringing in celebrities diluted what made the show unique. Someone posted, “Samay Raina kindly stop these kinds of film promotions on the show and bring back the OG show.”

But not everyone was out on a limb either. There were some voices that felt differently. Actor Sukrut Deo’s performance, for instance, seemed to stand out. It helped salvage what felt like an otherwise underwhelming premiere.

This whole mess ties back into Season 1, of course. Samay Raina had already faced serious trouble with India’s Got Latent . After Ranveer Allahbadia made some remarks about parental sex on the show, there was massive backlash online. Police complaints and FIRs followed that episode involving those connected to it, including Samay. He pulled all the episodes off YouTube right then. Said he'd cooperate with the authorities. The Instagram page is back now.

So yeah. You get a new season dropping. A joke bombs. And you’re left wondering what the actual point of it all was to begin with.</p
