Tragedy Behind the Scenes of Love & War: Worker Death and Production Details

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Love & War . It was already huge, one of those films everyone was talking about. But this week, the news got really heavy after something awful happened behind the scenes in Mumbai. A worker reportedly lost his life while working on that set.

The details are grim. According to the Film Studio Setting and Allied Mazdoor Union FSSAMU a 42-year-old carpenter named Chandradhari Yadav died. He was working on the sets for the film starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal at Royal Pump Studio in Goregaon East. This happened sometime around 3 am on June 17th.

What caused it? Reports are fuzzy. They just suggest a short circuit maybe. The actual cause of death? That’s still unknown. Yadav left behind his wife and two daughters. It's just… devastating.

After that tragedy, the worker unions immediately jumped in. They started pushing for help for the family. FWICE and FSSAMU reached out to the producers. They asked for money.

Bhansali Productions reportedly aGreed. Forty lakh rupees compensation was offered to Yadav’s family. That’s what happened on the financial side.

But it wasn't just about the money, was it? B.N. Tiwari, the FWICE president, said something real. They didn't just want the cash. They asked the producer to actually take responsibility for the kids’ education too. Workers are pushed, you know? Working way past the eight or ten hours they should be. There’s a limit to how much anyone can physically push themselves to. Once the official post-mortem comes in, then they will decide what happens next. Lives can’t just be put at risk because some big film is being made.

Ashok Dubey, the general secretary for FWICE, also talked about the situation. Chandradhari had been working non-stop for three days. From 7 a.m. right up until 3 a.m. on that day. Those who were there said he got an electric shock and was rushed to the hospital where he passed away. They made a separate request too. They asked Mr. Bhansali to arrange employment for his wife in his production house.

Bhansali Productions hasn't put out any official statement yet. Silence, mostly.

This whole thing hits differently because Love & War is still deep in production. It’s one of those massive projects. It’s Bhansali’s first time working with Ranbir Kapoor since Saawariya . Bringing Ranbir, Alia, and Vicky together it’s huge. One of the biggest Bollywood releases right now.

The film itself has been a bit of a roller coaster on timelines too. It was supposed to come out sooner. Summer 2026 felt more likely initially. But things got pushed back. Now it’s scheduled for January 21, 2027. Ranbir Kapoor himself confirmed later that the release would happen after Ramayana Part One drops in October.

The makers are obviously trying hard to keep details locked down. They are very tight on this. The Hindustan Times reported they’ve signed or are processing over 500 NDAs already. No visuals, no material from the sets getting out into the public sphere. It's all sealed up.

And even with all that secrecy, the excitement hasn't faded. People are still buzzing about it. Alia Bhatt actually spoke to News18 Showsha. She talked about why she likes this project. She said she’s more excited about seeing Bhansali and Ranbir work together again after so long. It was a genuine reaction.

She also brought up Vicky Kaushal joining the mix. Coming back together with him Ranbir and Vicky created something special with Sanju . It’s just a lot of combinations, she said. It sounds like everyone is holding onto that magic, even when things get messy on the ground.

Away from all this drama, the stars are juggling schedules ahead. Ranbir is gearing up for Ramayana . Alia is waiting for Alpha to come out alongside Sharvari . And Vicky Kaushal is starting work on Mahavatar , playing Chiranjeevi Parashurama. Everyone’s moving. It just keeps happening.
