Sandeep Reddy Vanga, Kabir Singh, and Animal Park: The Cinematic Connection

Sandeep Reddy Vanga just hit a milestone. Seven years since Kabir Singh came out. He dropped a post on social media celebrating it, going back to that film that everyone talks about, the one that was huge commercially. It immediately brought up some serious nostalgia for fans who still remember Shahid Kapoor’s performance and all the heavy emotion in it.
He posted a fighting scene from the movie. Just him and Shahid Kapoor there. “7 years of Kabir Khan,” he wrote. And people responded instantly with heart emojis, obviously. You saw comments like, “Career Best Performance of Shahid Kapoor.” Or something about waiting for that Animal Park vibe. Everyone was asking what’s next. About his new project, Spirit , starring Prabhas and Triptii Dimri.
It’s a weird thing how these things just keep swirling around. You have the history. Then you have the current buzz.
Remembering the timeline for a second. Vanga’s Kabir Singh came out in 2019. It was a massive hit money-wise, no doubt. But there was that backlash too. Lots of criticism about how it handled misogyny, toxic masculinity all those things people brought up.
Then you jump forward to 2023. Animal . That film also did really well commercially. A huge success again. It featured Ranbir Kapoor, Anil Kapoor, Bobby Deol, Rashmika Mandanna, and Triptii Dimri in it. Commercial success definitely came easily there.
Shahid Kapoor actually spoke up recently about this connection between the two worlds. He was asked about fan speculation the idea of a Kabir Singh crossover inside Animal Park . It sounds like an interesting thought, but apparently, that didn't happen.
He explained it kind of ramblingly when talking to Dainik Bhaskar. Said Sandeep had come to him while making Animal . He wanted one scene from Kabir there. A bit of a dream, maybe? But then the scheduling got messy. Some dates, other issues piled up. So that idea just… faded out. He said he asked for it, but it didn’t work out.
Meanwhile, Shahid is busy. Right now he’s in Cocktail 2 with Rashmika Mandanna and Kriti Sanon. Things are moving on there too. Sacnilk tracking says Cocktail 2 pulled in ₹16.25 crore just this past Saturday. That's up from its opening day collection of ₹13.50 crore. The total net earnings for the film are climbing toward ₹29.75 crore now, grossing over ₹35.70 crore overall.
It’s interesting how that plays out. Even with some mixed reviews floating around not huge ones maybe the social media noise keeps it moving. Positive word-of-mouth seems to be the engine right now. People are watching Sunday's performance closely, hoping it pushes things over the edge toward a ₹50 crore opening weekend. Just waiting to see where that momentum takes them.
