Imtiaz Ali’s Film *Main Vaapas Aaunga* Reception and Buzz

Imtiaz Ali’s latest film, Main Vaapas Aaunga , starring Sharvari, Vedang Raina, Diljit Dosanjh, and Naseeruddin Shah, turned out to be quite a surprise hit. It really struck a chord with people across the country.

It didn't exactly explode at the box office right away, though. There was a slow start. But then, the audience started appreciating it, and the reviews got good. That momentum kicked in fast during its second week.

As it keeps running, the film is getting admiration everywhere. Not just from regular moviegoers or critics, but even some big names in the film world are noticing it. Imtiaz himself recently talked about this outpouring of support. He said the encouragement he got from his peers really moved him deeply.

He was on a podcast, Yuvaa’s Be A Man Yaar, when he shared how overwhelmed he felt by the reaction to Main Vaapas Aaunga . It felt good to see people connect with the story personally. Like they found reflections of their own lives in it. He expressed real gratitude toward everyone who pushed for people to actually go watch it in theaters. That organic promotion meant a lot to him.

He brought up some funny things he heard. People like Shekhar Kapur were calling him, asking what the current collection was. And Piyush Mishra sent videos saying, “Houseful is showing at so-and-so theater, congratulations.” Even Subhash Ghai commented something pretty pointed. He said, “You like the hero so much. You know it left theaters in two weeks? Don’t worry, people are liking this film, it will come through.”

Imtiaz also showered some love on Ayushmann Khurrana for singing Tere Paas Main . The way he sang that song just moved him. He didn't know what to say back. Ayushmann told him a bit about his whole history.

Then there was the chatter about the industry itself. People were saying things like, “If you manage to make a third good film, I’ll build a temple for you at my house.” Or that people in this business are very shrewd. They said, “People in the film industry are big badmash.” But Imtiaz just wondered why everyone was promoting this specific film or Ayushmann? He just didn't have enough words to thank them all properly.

The movie actually came out on June 12th. It opened up with modest numbers, nothing huge. But slowly, the word-of-mouth and those glowing reviews started pulling it along. The second week was a real turnaround. It saw a jump of one hundred thirty percent on its Friday, even while there was competition from things like Cocktail 2 .
