Donald Trump on Secret Military Operation and Oil Transit through the Strait of Hormuz

Donald Trump talked about something Wednesday. He claimed his country moved over 100 million barrels of oil through the Strait of Hormuz. And he said it was all part of some secret military operation.

The Strait itself, you know, that’s a really important spot for global oil transit. A choke point. Especially with the whole US-Iran situation going on right now. Tehran shut it down back in February, but things kept moving somehow.

He shared details about this undisclosed mission on Truth Social. He wrote something like, “Last month, I directed our Great U.S. Military to execute a secret mission to support Oil Tankers and other Commercial Ships through the Straight of Hormuz."

Then today, he announced the result. He said this effort brought more than 100 MILLION Barrels of Oil through. Into the Open Market. And over 200 commercial ships managed to get through safely. It was a wildly successful effort, he insisted. Because, according to him, the UNITED STATES controls that Strait not Iran. Their military is defeated. Their economy is lost. He ended with a pretty blunt statement: “It’s over for Iran!”

This whole thing has been complicated by what else happened later. While speaking to reporters at the White House, he offered more specifics about those actions. He mentioned 22 ships were taken out last night, lights off. Iran couldn't detect them because they don't have radar.

“I’m just announcing today for the first time,” he said. “We’ve been taking MILLIONS of barrels of oil! Every night, we took out oil. We have been taking out ships carrying millions of barrels of oil from Iran, and Iran was not aware of this.”

He pushed it further. Said nobody knows about it. That Iran didn't know until right now. He added that it was hard for him to say it, but when it’s over, the oil will just drop back where it was before.

There was talk about a military push called Project Freedom in early May. The idea was to escort commercial ships through Hormuz. But apparently, that initiative got shelved almost immediately after it started.

Later that month, some US media outlets reported things had resumed, but Central Command denied those claims. They said the Navy wasn’t actually restarting any escort missions or assisting vessels. It felt like everything was moving in a haze.

Then there were the actual strikes on Thursday. The US carried out “additional self-defence strikes” against Iran for the second straight day. Local reports say air defense systems got activated in southern areas. Explosions echoed across western Tehran, Fars province, Bandar Abbas, Qeshm Island, Kish, Minab, and parts of central Isfahan.

Iran responded hard. Their Islamic Revolutionary Guard launched a two-wave strike back at the US forces. They targeted eighteen key installations that were hosting US troops. This all happened in response to something else the downing of an American Apache helicopter in the Gulf. Things just kept escalating, you know?
