Investigation into Ketan Agarwal’s Murder at Lohagad Fort

Investigators looking into Ketan Agarwal’s murder at Lohagad Fort found something strange. It wasn't just a random act. Apparently, it hinged on something his fiancée, Siya Goyal, did. A signal. Something carefully arranged played a huge part in the whole thing.

The Pune Rural Police said she allegedly used a pre-arranged “sitting down” cue. That was the moment her alleged lover, Chetan Chaudhary, pushed Agarwal off that cliff on June 18th. But it wasn't just about pushing him. The police claim the signal also kept Goyal safe. It kept her out of reach during the fatal attack.

They said she was told to either sit down pretending to drink water or fiddle with her shoelaces. Investigators are thinking about why this specific move mattered so much. Lowering herself served a dual purpose. It alerted Chaudhary that Agarwal was right at the edge. And it stopped Agarwal from grabbing onto her in his desperate attempt to survive. That grab could have dragged her into the gorge too.

Meanwhile, there’s this whole layer of planning the police are uncovering. It wasn't just impulsive. Goyal and Chaudhary allegedly scouted Lohagad Fort before anything happened. They did reconnaissance. They rehearsed their plan there. It felt like an elaborate setup from the start.

And then there’s the logistics of getting there, or avoiding being caught. Chaudhary reportedly took a scooter instead of a car when traveling from Pune to the fort. He feared toll cameras catching his registration number. And he wore a hoodie while trekking up there. Concealment was key. He allegedly removed it during the attack, wearing just a black T-shirt, and put it back on before leaving. Trying to wipe the digital slate clean.

The investigation went further still. The Pune Rural Police actually took Goyal back to Lohagad Fort. They recreated the scene using a dummy. Just to see what they could find there. It’s all very layered.

Goyal and Chaudhary are currently in custody. Remanded until July 3rd. And that's where things stand right now.
