Investigation and Legal Proceedings Surrounding Ram Mandir Donations

The whole situation around those donations at the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya has definitely escalated into something legal now. There’s a petition hanging out there, asking for an independent look a proper investigation into all the alleged financial messes and irregularities involving what devotees gave.

It’s not just some abstract political squabble anymore. It hit court. The hearing is scheduled before the Lucknow bench of the High Court. This part is where things are supposed to start moving.

The core of it all, the thing everyone is talking about, involves claims that cash and valuables donated to the temple got messed with. We’re talking about massive amounts here. Questions are swirling around 70 kg of silver , 1,250 kg of gold , and a staggering Rs 200 crore in cash plus other stuff offerings tied directly to Lord Ram’s idol and those sacred padukas.

The petition filed in court is essentially demanding that the High Court forces an independent probe into this alleged misuse of donation money and valuables offered by everyone involved at the Ram Mandir site. It feels like a desperate move, trying to get outside eyes on what happened behind the scenes.

Meanwhile, there’s already some action happening on the ground. A three-member Special Investigation Team, or SIT , is already digging into these allegations. They are examining things now. There’s talk they might be questioning witnesses and stakeholders this Wednesday as part of this ongoing process.

The Uttar Pradesh government actually set up this SIT back on June 13th. That came after the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust requested them to look into these claims.

Some officials have already submitted their initial findings, though it’s important to remember that whatever they sent over is only preliminary stuff right now. Vijay Vishwas Pant, who is one of the key members of the SIT and the Commissioner for the Lucknow Division, handed this report over to Sanjay Prasad, the Additional Chief Secretary (Home) in Uttar Pradesh.

Pant made it clear that what’s been submitted so far isn't the final word. He said they still have work to do.

“The investigation will continue,” Pant stated. “We will submit the final report to the government within 15 days. If more facts pop up, we’ll ask the government for more time. This is a confidential investigation report.”

It sounds like there’s a lot of back and forth happening with timelines. The SIT was formed by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath at the temple trust's request to look into everything comprehensively. They were supposed to examine all angles, conduct a thorough check on how things ran, and make sure recruitment practices were transparent too.

Sources suggested that this team managed to get through their initial probe pretty quickly six days in Ayodhya, apparently. During that time, they questioned nearly 150 people. That included trust officials, management staff, temple workers, bank employees, and even folks involved in the counting process itself. It was a wide net, trying to catch every angle of the movement.

But this whole thing has done more than just stay in the legal papers. It’s thrown political reactions into the fire. The controversy is now deeply entangled with politics.

Akhilesh Yadav from the Samajwadi Party jumped in hard. He alleged that some people were clearly “filling their pockets.” And he added a fresh layer to the mess, pointing out what he claimed was the disappearance of a silver slab donated by the Sindhi community, alongside gold bricks and jewelry.

Imran Masood, an MP from Congress, also raised serious questions about why no First Information Report had been filed, especially given what he described as a major scandal unfolding here.

TMC MP Mahua Moitra brought up similar concerns regarding the missing valuables and cash. She specifically pressed on those figures the 70 kg of silver , the 1,250 kg of gold , and that ₹200 crore in cash and asked why nothing was registered officially. She also touched on the idol and the sacred footwear, the paduka of Lord Ram, asking about them too.

Akhilesh Prasad Singh, another Congress leader, questioned the whole setup leading up to the SIT’s formation. He said, if everything had been fine, why was an SIT even needed? He suggested that Yogi ji went there, which clearly signaled something suspicious was going on. He insisted that the truth needs to come out before the public.

There's also chatter about what the investigation might lead to in terms of structure changes for the temple trust itself. Some sources hinted that the SIT might recommend major shifts in how the trust operates. That could involve reconstituting the entire trust, maybe appointing an executive officer similar to how they handle things at Kashi Vishwanath Temple. They were talking about making ex-officio government members play a bigger role in supervising donation counting and ensuring recruitment is totally transparent moving forward. It’s all shifting now.
