Brazil vs Scotland: The Final Group C Match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup

Brazil is looking to book their spot in the last thirty-two of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. They have a match coming up Wednesday against Scotland. That’s their final group C game.

Five-time World Cup winners are involved, naturally. But they are facing Scotland now, trying to qualify for the knockout round for the very first time in history. It feels like a big deal.

Fans over in India can watch it live on ZEE5 and Unite8 Sports. A standard ZEE5 subscription gets you the stream. Hindi commentary is on Unite8 Sports 1. English? That’s Unite8 Sports 2. HD versions are also available, which helps things a bit.

The teams themselves. Scotland has their lineup sketched out: Gunn, Hickey, Hendry, McKenna, Robertson. Then Gannon-Doak, Ferguson, Christie, McGinn. McTominay and Adams too.

Brazil’s side is Alisson, Danilo, Marquinhos, Gabriel Magalhaes, Alex Sandro. Bruno Guimaraes, Casemiro, Lucas Paqueta are there. Rayan, Matheus Cunha, Vinicius Junior also playing. Neymar will be in the matchday squad. That helps cover for Raphinha who is out with an injury for about two weeks.

Scotland really wants that knockout stage spot. It’s their first shot after eight previous group-stage exits. They had a decent start to this World Cup, beating Haiti 1-0 in their opener their first win on the biggest stage since 1990. That early win was important.

But things got tougher. After losing to Morocco one-nil, Scotland is now third in Group C with three points. They need a draw or maybe even a narrow loss against Brazil just to escape the group stage entirely. It’s hanging by a thread there.

The history between these two sides is interesting. Scotland has never beaten Brazil in ten meetings. And they haven't won a single World Cup match against South American teams in eight previous tournaments. Brazil, on the other hand, has only lost one of their last sixteen group matches against European teams. That little bit of data feels heavy when you look at where things stand now.

Morocco complicates this whole thing. They held Brazil to a 1-1 draw early on. If Brazil can’t manage that result against Scotland, Morocco is poised to take the top spot in Group C. That would throw a huge wrench into what Carlo Ancelotti is trying to pull off later in the competition for Brazil. It just changes everything about their path forward.

It’s messy. A lot of variables hanging over this single game.
