Trump's Post and the Tension with Italian Prime Minister Meloni

Trump just dropped another jab at Italian Prime Minister Meloni. He put an image up on Truth Social with a caption that read, “Restraining Order Needed.” It showed him standing there, and Meloni looking up, smiling. The whole thing suggests she was way too interested in him.
This isn't new drama. It’s part of this long back-and-forth between the two leaders. It started after that G7 Summit last month, and it just keeps going into this week’s NATO meeting. Tension is definitely building.
The argument kicked off when Trump made comments about Meloni following the summit. He claimed she had repeatedly asked for a picture from him. He implied she was eager to be seen with him.
That kind of remark just ignited things in Italy. People started talking about it immediately, and some members of her government were pretty critical of Trump’s spin.
Meloni didn't take it well at all. She flat-out denied everything. She called the post “completely fabricated.”
She responded directly to his implication. She said neither she nor Italy ever beg for anything. It wasn't about personal feelings, she made that clear. Her government focuses on what’s best for Italy, not some personal political game.
She also stressed something important: she really didn't want this argument to drag on. Maintaining cooperation with the other Western allies felt much more important right now.
Trump posted this thing just before NATO leaders are supposed to meet. Both of them will probably be there. Nobody has commented publicly on this latest post yet. But it’s clear. This is the second time in a few weeks that the US President has publicly targeted the Italian leader like this. It keeps that whole messy exchange right in the spotlight before some big international gathering.
