Diljit Dosanjh's Film Satluj Removal from ZEE5

Two days after Satluj finally hit OTT, Diljit Dosanjh’s film got pulled from ZEE5 in India. It proved what everyone worried about. The streaming platform just announced it stays unavailable there "until further notice." They're apparently looking into legal ways to get it back. But don't worry entirely. It’s still running internationally on ZEE5 Global.

Diljit had already been talking about this stuff, you know? During that Instagram Live session after the film dropped, fans were freaking out. They worried it would vanish because of all the censorship battles it went through. Diljit admitted he felt that way too. He pushed people to watch or download it right away.

He said something in Punjabi that stuck with everyone. “Hun tension nahi, sab ne kar layi download,” he said. It means, "Now there's no tension, everyone already got it." He was worried before, but seeing people accessing the film? That eased up.

So what is Satluj about, really? It’s the story of Jaswant Singh Khalra. The human rights activist. He exposed thousands of illegal cremations during Punjab's militancy years. He got abducted and murdered back in '95.

The making of this movie was a nightmare. Three years spent fighting certification issues. The makers fought against what the CBFC wanted, pushing for cuts they refused to accept. Diljit insisted he wouldn’t have promoted it if even one cut had been made. People should see the original version.

And then there was ZEE5 itself. It premiered on July 3rd. Then, five days later, gone from the Indian platform. They haven't given a real reason why they yanked it. But they did release a statement. It sounds kind of official, but you can sense the commitment underneath.

They said they stand by Satluj and the vision behind it. Powerful stories matter. They think lasting impact is what really counts. So they’re committed to finding every legal way to bring it back for their audience soon. That's the deal right now.
