Ali Fazal and Richa Chadha Paired for New Situational Comedy

Ali Fazal and Richa Chadha are finally getting paired up. Opposite each other on screen for the very first time. It’s going to be in some untitled situational comedy. Scenework Productions and Giriraj Productions are behind it. Kumud Mishra is also joining them.
The whole thing is set against Delhi. Colourful, chaotic stuff.
Director Shashie Vermaa is handling it. You know him he's an actor too. Bala , Gunjan Saxena Kathal . And he writes things too, AK47 , Murga Trophy . He’s got this knack for mixing the funny with the real emotion. That kind of slice-of-life storytelling is what he does best. Now he’s bringing that feel to a comedy meant to be warm, witty, and about people. A little social commentary thrown in there.
It's scheduled for filming later in 2026. The theatrical release? April 2027. Time is ticking, you know?
Fazal and Chadha have been in the Fukrey world before. Shared screen time, sure. But never this way. No story centered entirely around them. This new dynamic feels huge. It’s going to be a big moment for the film itself.
Ali Fazal talked about it. He said he always thought the best comedies come from honest people and believable situations. Reading the script? Something special. Exploring a completely new energy with Richa on screen that’s exciting. And yeah, Shashie Sir’s work. It’s something he’s followed for ages. Wanted to work with him. That was a huge pull factor for Fazal.
Richa Chadha seemed drawn by the writing itself. She mentioned how simple and authentic it felt. Funny, emotional. Deeply rooted in everyday life, plus that social commentary angle. It reminded her of her first school days in Delhi, Jamuna Paar. Excited to share screen with Ali, he’s a gifted actor, she thought. They haven't done this kind of work before. Fukrey was more about adversarial roles then.
Shashie Vermaa jumped in. He framed it as celebrating people, relationships, the chaos that one small moment can throw into someone’s life and make everything topsy-turvy. Delhi itself is almost a character. Having Ali, Richa, Kumud they bring this depth, spontaneity, heart to whatever they create. He just wants to start filming.
