Monsoon Warning and Heavy Rainfall Forecast for Mumbai and Konkan

Mumbai is dealing with some serious monsoon trouble right now. The India Meteorological Department, IMD, just put out a warning predicting heavy to extremely heavy rain across parts of west India on Thursday, July 2nd. They said the monsoon isn't going anywhere soon.

It’s an Orange warning for Mumbai, Thane, Palghar, and Raigad right now. And they are forecasting some moderate to intense downpours hitting isolated spots over the next few hours.

This forecast comes after everything that happened yesterday. Roads flooded again. Transport got messed up. People and I mean, Mumbaikars they really tested how tough things are these days. It’s just relentless.

The weather office also pointed toward something bigger. They think a low-pressure area is going to form over the northwest Bay of Bengal around July 3rd. That sounds like it'll keep the rain coming, sure.

Expect continued heavy, very heavy rainfall for Mumbai and the whole Konkan region over the next few days. Some places are likely to get truly extreme amounts of rain, isolated spots getting hammered hard.

Looking back just at the last twenty-four hours in the Konkan, it was already soaking. Wada in Palghar recorded twenty-three centimeters of rain there alone. Just a snapshot of how much water is moving around. It’s constant.
