Ram Temple Donation Theft Case: Legal Action and SIT Probe Update

The Ram Temple donation theft case is about to take a real turn this Thursday. Lawyers in Ayodhya are gearing up to file a complaint against Champat Rai . He’s the former general secretary of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust, and they are demanding an FIR over these alleged irregularities.

This move comes right in the middle of an expanding Special Investigation Team probe. And it happens just before a big trust meeting where Rai’s future is expected to get really scrutinized.

The Faizabad Bar Association decided they needed to submit this complaint straight to the Ram Janmabhoomi Police Station. Not just naming Champat Rai. They also dragged in other names: trust member Dr Anil Mishra , and special invitee Dr Gopal Rai . The plan is for lawyers to march over there at eleven in the morning to push for registration of a criminal case.

The bar association made their stance clear too. If the police refuse to register an FIR? They’ll go to court immediately for directions. And they threatened agitation if nothing happens against these people involved.

Meanwhile, the SIT investigation is still rolling. They were given another fifteen days to wrap up the probe on the alleged theft from the donation counting centre. Investigators are looking into a lot of angles here. They're digging into the role of an outsourcing agency. It’s alleged that this agency handled the personnel involved in the counting, even though there was supposed to be an MoU with the State Bank of India governing how the counting happened.

They’re also checking if those outsourced employees actually had proper police verification or background checks done before they were deployed. That part is key.

Sources are looking at assets now too. The police are assessing what the accused own movable property, immovable stuff. If the allegations hold up, any financial losses suffered by the Ram Temple Trust could potentially be recovered from those properties. It’s about accountability, I guess.

This whole mess is going to dominate the trust meeting scheduled for July 6th. Members are probably going to hash out what happens next for Champat Rai and Anil Mishra. Sources say you need a two-thirds majority of the twelve members just to decide on removing them. And there’s this side speculation about senior VHP leaders, like Dinesh Chandra or Bajrang Lal Bangra, showing up as special invitees at that meeting.

The investigation also uncovered some really messy details about how the theft allegedly went down. Investigators claim the racket looked closely at the layout of the counting centre. They studied where the CCTV cameras were. Entry points, exit routes, staff movement all mapped out. One accused supposedly took cash from the counted donations while others formed a human shield around him, blocking the cameras and using those blind spots to hide things.

And there’s this kicker about the keys. Investigators allege that one of the two keys to the heavily secured donation counting room was actually held by co-accused Ramshankar Yadav, also known as Tinnu. This is weird because he supposedly had no role in the actual counting process. The other key, they claim, was with SBI officials who were supervising everything. And the biggest haul of allegedly stolen cash so far? That’s linked to Avinash Shukla .

The police are still holding onto the alleged kingpin, Avinash Shukla. They want another forty-eight hours of custody. The court is expected to make a decision on that request later this Thursday. It just keeps going. The investigation into the whole conspiracy, the security failures, and who is responsible in this counting system that’s still up in the air.
