Akshaye Khanna, Siddharth Malhotra, and the Success of *Dhurandhar* and *Ikka*

When Akshaye Khanna’s Dhurandhar broke open, suddenly finding him a new kind of momentum, people started looking at him for something else. That led straight into Siddharth Malhotra’s Ikka , where he was lined up against Sunny Deol.

There was this chat where the director asked Akshaye about how his own success was affecting his role in Ikka . Siddharth actually talked about working with him, calling Akshaye one of the easiest actors to deal with. It sounded pretty relaxed, surprisingly so.

Siddharth mentioned that Dhurandhar was actually being shot when they were gearing up for this project. It was right on the edge on the verge of release when they started filming, and it came out while they were still shooting. So, yeah, I think all of that just happened at the same time. A bit messy timing, maybe.

He said Akshaye is that kind of person who doesn’t let success weigh him down or failure crush him. It wasn't about giving interviews or talking much; he’s just really grounded. You know him as a friend now, and he’s very clear about what he wants. That clarity seemed to come naturally.

The filmmaker continued, saying Akshaye is genuinely one of the simplest actors for a director to work with. Why? Because what he says is exactly what he means. There’s no complication in his life showing up in the process. He knew this was just a single thing. He said, “I’ve done my job as an actor. This fandom stuff comes in a certain way, and this too shall pass.” A bit dismissive of the noise, maybe.

Siddharth added something else about that pressure. Akshaye wasn't deluded by the success. He actually told Siddharth, “Don’t take the pressure. You just make your film. Make sure it’s a good one.” That took some of the weight off things for him, and honestly, I didn't feel any pressure either because of that talk. And there’s Aditya the director of Dhar , Dhurandhar he’s a dear friend.

Siddharth spoke about his connection to Aditya too. He said he’d known Aditya since the time he first started writing, trying to get something made at Dharma. There’s just this bias for him; I genuinely think he’s a lovely guy. So whatever Aditya does, Siddharth simply wants his film to succeed, more than anything else matters. That was the end of that thought.

Ikka itself is finally hitting the screens. It’ll be streaming on Netflix starting July 10th. The trailer for it promises something intense a courtroom thriller where all sorts of things collide: justice, morality, and personal history. It marks Sunny Deol's OTT debut, too. It looks like Akshaye Khanna is going to be locked in a gripping legal battle with him. Dia Mirza and Tillotama Shome are also involved. Just a big package hitting the streaming market.
