Bella Hadid's Journey with Lyme Disease and Coping

Bella Hadid’s post about living with Lyme disease really got people worried. It was an emotional thing. But now she’s trying to assure everyone that even though the update felt heavy, it just reflects what she’s been dealing with for years.

She finally came back to Instagram after all the attention. She said she didn’t mean to cause worry. That some days are genuinely brutal. But she’s learned how to manage the ups and downs now.

“I know it sounds jarring,” she wrote. “But in full truth, it’s my reality. It’s something I’m able to cope with to a capacity now.”

She admitted that feeling limited by her health was frustrating. That post came from that place of frustration. She said, “I’m sorry if I startled anyone. This truly is an every day, ebb and flow, for me for the past fifteen years.” She felt overwhelmed just thinking about not being able to do what her mind wanted. But her body… it just wasn't capable.

She thanked everyone for sticking by her too. “Every day is a new day,” she said. “Tomorrow I’m hoping for, God willing, a better one. I love you guys so much. Thank you for all of your support.” It felt genuine, despite everything else swirling around it.

Those earlier stories that caused the alarm? They were raw. She showed fans what a flare-up actually looks like. Being out of breath just walking to the kitchen. That was tough. And being able to take a shower without fainting? That felt like some huge victory, a real accomplishment.

She kept talking about the struggle, though. “Haven’t been able to shake off this flare up…” She mentioned sleeping eleven hours again. Then she brought up all the protocols, every doctor she’d ever seen. Still nothing helping. It just felt pointless sometimes.

Then there was that bit of dark humor. She joked about it. Said there isn't one single brain cell working right. Her last two were just beefing with each other. So if she ever told you to journal on a bad day, she took it back and apologized immediately. It’s all so messy.

Talking about the illness itself is still intimidating. She said it’s difficult. The treatments that used to work? They don't work anymore. That leaves her feeling totally uncertain. Like nothing feels certain.

She spoke about the emotional weight too. In one long story, she let out some of that pain the exhaustion, the anxiety, the brain fog. The insecurities. All those co-infections and mental health trauma piled on top of it. She wished it wasn't so intimidating to explain all that feeling.

There was a picture there, a selfie with some small comforts. A cozy poncho. Gifts from a friend. It showed a moment of peace amidst the chaos.

She repeated those feelings: sleeping eleven hours again. Going out of breath walking. And that little joke about her brain cells fighting each other. Even on really bad days, she found something to celebrate. That shower without fainting. A big win for her.

It’s been a long road. Bella has talked about this Lyme disease journey for years now. She mentioned the pain, the fog, the anxiety, the extreme fatigue that it brings. Back in September 2025, she posted some hospital photos. The caption was simple: “I’m sorry I always go MIA. I love you guys.”

Her family felt it too. Her sister Gigi responded, hoping Bella felt as strong and good as she deserved. And her mother, Yolanda Hadid? She called her a Lyme warrior . That's one way to look at it.

It’s not just Bella dealing with this. It touches the whole family. Yolanda and Anwar her brother both have been diagnosed. Her mother first shared the news about both of them back in 2015, talking about her own battle too. It’s a complicated thing, really.
