Modi and Takaichi Condemn Terrorism and Discuss India-Japan Cooperation

Modi and Takaichi strongly condemned terrorism. Violent extremism in all its forms. This included cross-border terror sponsored by Pakistan.

The India-Japan Annual Summit happened on Thursday, July 2. That’s when the leaders made their joint statement. They talked about the deadly Pahalgam attack in Jammu and Kashmir from April 22, 2025. Twenty-six civilians died there. And the Red Fort attack in Delhi last November.

Both nations demanded something immediate. Justice for those who organized and funded these attacks. No delay. They called for real action. Eliminating terrorist safe havens. Stopping the flow of money. Halting the movement of terrorists across borders. It felt urgent.

Then there was the call about West Asia. Modi and Takaichi stressed peace and stability there. Not just talk. Real stability needed. The MEA released an official statement. They talked about securing things. Free navigation through the Strait of Hormuz. Keeping energy supply chains stable. Upholding international law. That’s what they emphasized as crucial.

And on a separate note, India and Japan signed something important. A Memorandum of Cooperation. It reaffirms ties. They wanted to boost global cooperation between New Delhi and Tokyo.

The signing followed talks between the PMs themselves. Discussions focused on expanding strategic cooperation. Beyond just the usual stuff. AI came up. Shipbuilding. Biogas. Semiconductors. Critical technologies. That’s what they aGreed to bolster in those sectors. It was a deal about future links. Not just old treaties.
