Diljit Dosanjh on the Controversy of *Satluj* and Censorship

Days after Satluj got pulled off ZEE5 India, Diljit Dosanjh jumped on an Instagram Live. It was all about the controversy, you know? The film has been stuck in this years-long fight over censorship.
People flooded the comments section immediately. They were saying they had already managed to download it before it was taken down from the platform.
Diljit reacted to that noise. He seemed genuinely happy. He actually said he was happy that so many people had done that. He even pushed them those who had it to share the download links around. Make sure everyone could watch Satluj until it comes back. And watching it with family, he suggested that too.
“Hun tension nahi,” he posted. “Sab ne kar layi download.” That was his main point. He wasn't worried anymore because people had already accessed the film before the platform removed it.
It felt like a shift in focus then. Not just about the streaming drama, but something bigger.
He dug into the whole journey of the film. How hard it was to get this thing out there. Diljit talked about how neither he nor the makers sought help from anyone. No Bollywood help. No push from Punjabi cinema figures either.
“We’ve been fighting this battle ourselves,” he said in Punjabi. He emphasized that everyone feels their struggle is the biggest one. Whatever you are working on, everyone is battling their own thing on their own platform. We just got our film out there. Got it released. Made sure it reached the people.
The story of Satluj itself was kind of rough. It started as Ghallughara . Then they changed it to Punjab ’95 , and finally, Satluj . It spent years hanging around. Apparently facing more than one hundred and twenty suggested cuts from the CBFC. Instead of a big theater release, it ended up on ZEE5 for just a few days in July. Then poof. Gone. Removed within two days.
It was a real-life story of getting stuck somewhere.
