Cloudburst Damage at Kwar Hydroelectric Project Site in Jammu and Kashmir

Heavy rain really hit hard late Sunday night in Jammu and Kashmir. It triggered a cloudburst right over the under-construction Kwar Hydroelectric Project site in Kishtwar district. Everything got disrupted there.

Massive flow of mud, rocks, and debris just crashed down into the area. Several vehicles trucks, tankers got buried under that mess. Things are being monitored constantly.

You can see what happened online. Visuals shared from those affected spots show the sheer extent of the cloudburst damage. Vehicles are partially submerged under thick layers of mud and rocks at the project site. But you also see heavy earthmoving machinery trying to clear out the slush and boulders. Restoration work is definitely going on, but it’s a mess.

Large rocks are scattered everywhere. Cars and vehicles are stranded amid all that debris. It really highlights how much this cloudburst wrecked the project area and whatever infrastructure was nearby. The authorities are focused on clearing things up and getting movement back where it was.

Meanwhile, there’s another trouble spot happening separately. That mess blocked the crucial Jammu-Kishtwar Highway. Traffic just stopped moving toward Kishtwar completely. Connectivity is shot in that region right now.

Everyone is keeping a close eye on the weather while they work through all this rain-hit areas.

The India Meteorological Department, IMD, is warning people too.

Authorities are telling people to be cautious while restoration work continues everywhere.
