Aleema Khan's Condemnation of Crackdown and the PoK Situation

Aleema Khan, Imran Khan's sister, she really lashed out. She condemned the crackdown happening to people in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, but she also aimed that anger squarely at Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif for trying to step in and mediate that whole US-Iran mess.

She said Islamabad was just oppressing its own people while sitting there trying to play some peacemaker abroad. It felt like a total betrayal.

“You are beating people inside your own house,” she shot back, “and then you go to the neighboring street to act like a mediator. No one respects that. This whole thing is a joke about you.” She demanded he look at what was happening domestically first. He’s the Prime Minister of Pakistan, not of them. He needs to take care of his own country where he’s inflicting all this tyranny.

Then came the specifics about PoK. Aleema alleged that food and water supplies got cut off completely while massive protests were raging in the region. It was deliberate. A systematic cutting off.

“You say you are helpless, powerless,” she continued, “whenever it suits you. Then what was all that effort for? Come look here.” She pointed toward the suffering. “If there was any courage, he would have given justice to his own people. You turned PoK into Karbala; water is cut off; food is gone. And what about Mahrang Baloch? Sentencing her to life imprisonment? What did you do to her?”

There was a sharp pivot then, accusing the government of this oppression itself. “For what reason are you committing such cruelty? Are you going to brighten your name in the world like this? The whole world knows who actually orchestrated all of this,” she added. It’s about accountability, obviously.

She also made sure there was a focus on Imran Khan himself. She vowed that they wouldn't just stand by; they would stand firm. Whatever happens next, they will be with them. When they go to Adiala Jail, it won't just be about restoring Imran Khan’s rights. They will secure his release.

Meanwhile, things were swirling on social media. Noreen Khan, Imran Khan’s sister, brought up the whole “Thank You, Pakistan” trend. She asked what people should be grateful for when residents of PoK are being starved out and their paths blocked by the government.

“I checked everything on Twitter today,” she said. “I didn't see ‘Thank You, Pakistan.’ I saw people asking, ‘Thank you, Pakistan for what?’ Are you going to say that while you’re starving people in PoK? Blocking them off? What is there for them to thank you for?”

She kept hammering the point about Imran Khan. She accused the government of persecuting him, calling him Pakistan’s only popular and accepted leader.

“I pray my prayers are with him, Insha'Allah,” she said. “I pray that Allah makes an example of disgrace and humiliation out of them. What they have done has never happened before. You keep saying thank you because it feels good to you, but I looked around, and there wasn’t any genuine thanks.”
