The Chilling Story of Persistence and Failed Murder Attempts at Lohagad Fort

What started as what looked like just a bad trekking accident at Pune’s Lohagad Fort. Now it's this chilling story of persistence , planning . Repeated failed murder attempts over the last twenty-four hours. It feels that way.

The police are alleging something much darker than an accident. They say 26-year-old businessman Ketan Agarwal’s fiancée, Siya Goyal, and her alleged lover, Chetan Chaudhary, tried multiple times to kill him. Before finally succeeding on June 18th by pushing him into a gorge at Lohagad Fort. Investigators are saying the pair kept looking for the right spot, abandoning earlier plans when things just didn't go according to their script.

The first attempt? That happened back on May 31st, during an earlier visit to the fort. That’s what the family said. The story shifts quickly from a simple hike gone wrong to something far more tangled.

Investigators quoted by The Times of India suggest Siya allegedly pushed Ketan near a cliff edge. But it didn't work out as planned. He managed to grab onto some bush nearby, stopping himself from falling. And here’s where the story gets twisted. In an attempt to cover up whatever happened, Siya reportedly told him she had pushed him only to save him from a snake. Ketan accepted that explanation. He didn't suspect anything foul play then.

Then there was another failure. On June 4th. Police said the second attempt went nowhere. Ketan’s mother, still completely reeling from the shock of that May 31st incident, just refused to let him go back to the fort. That refusal added another layer of tension, didn't it?

Amid all this trying to eliminate Ketan, there was something else sticking in the family’s mind something about his passport. It became a real source of suspicion later on.

Ketan and Siya were supposed to fly to Bali for their pre-wedding photoshoot on June 6th. A trip that suddenly evaporated. Ketan’s passport went missing. Siya just claimed she had misplaced it. The whole group, including Siya's siblings, had to scrap the plans. Police later concluded something else entirely. They suggested Siya might have hidden or destroyed the passport. Trying to stop the trip from happening.

Investigators found another trip to the fort planned by the accused. On June 14th they went back to Lohagad Fort again. But there was a snag. It was a Sunday. A massive crowd at that popular spot just made them ditch their plan right there.

Four days after that, Siya and Chetan decided it was time. They finally pushed.

Siya convinced Ketan to go back to the fort. The excuse? Celebrating her birthday. Ketan had been planning a resort celebration instead. But she insisted on the fort visit. She even tried pulling strings with his family to get him to aGree, his father reportedly told The Statesman about it.

Meanwhile, Chetan traveled separately to the fort and followed them. CCTV footage later picked up something important. A man in a hoodie trailing them, even in the summer heat. That was a clue that helped the cops start unraveling the whole conspiracy. Police allege that once they reached a spot that felt relatively isolated, Ketan was attacked. Pushed into a gorge. Hundreds of feet deep.

The case started out as an accidental death. Siya told the police he just slipped while taking photos. But Ketan’s family refused to swallow that explanation. They saw him as an experienced trekker. How could such a fall happen? Their insistence forced a deeper look. It eventually uncovered the alleged relationship between Siya and Chetan, and all the messy sequence of events leading up to that death.
