Kidnapping, Rape, and Murder: The Arrest of Bashu Kumar Singh

The cab driver. That’s who they arrested. Bashu Kumar Singh , twenty-nine years old. He was accused of something horrific kidnapping, rape, murder of a ten-year-old girl in South Delhi.
It all kicked off with him allegedly trying to escape. But not just escaping anywhere. He was recreating the whole awful scene, you see? It’s that kind of thing that gets you thinking about how things unravel.
The actual incident happened way down on Mandi Road, near Fatehpur Beri. That’s where the Delhi Police finally got the accused.
Things got messy there. Singh was allegedly being forced to act out the sequence of events linked to the crime. And then, when he tried to bolt he actually attempted to flee things escalated fast. He snatched a policeman’s service weapon right then. A scuffle erupted instantly.
A senior officer quoted in the news agency PTI said something about that fight. They fired at him. It was self-defense, they claimed. Trying to stop him from running away. Hitting him in the leg. That's what happened after he tried to make a break for it.
He was immediately overpowered. Rushed somewhere for treatment. Police said he was stable, thankfully. But the legal trouble didn’t end there. They started pressing charges about that escape attempt alone.
This whole mess comes a day later. A day after Singh himself was arrested in connection with what happened to that child. The initial crime the abduction itself is already massive.
Investigators are digging into something dark. Apparently, the girl was sleeping peacefully with her parents. They were working as daily-wage laborers. And she was just there. Then, in the early hours of Monday, the accused allegedly took her away. Gone.
Her father noticed something. A vehicle speeding off. That’s when he realized his daughter was missing. Panic set in. He called the police.
That call started a huge search operation. They weren't just looking for him. It got intense. They went through footage nearly two hundred CCTV cameras, technical surveillance trying to track this suspect. A massive sweep across West Delhi. Six hours after the crime itself, Singh was caught in that net.
The allegations about what happened next are terrifying. Police claim after taking her, Singh drove them somewhere isolated. Near the border of Delhi and Haryana. An area where she was allegedly raped and then killed. It’s a nightmare scenario unfolding across state lines.
Investigators are focusing on where the body might have ended up. They pointed toward a forested stretch near the Faridabad-Gurugram road. The story goes that the accused tried to hide it there, trying to stuff it under stones. A desperate attempt at concealment.
But Singh didn't get away with that completely. Officials said he actually led police teams to where they finally found the girl’s body. That recovery itself must have been incredibly difficult.
When Singh was being questioned and trust me, there were multiple versions of what he claimed happened the investigators kept verifying everything. It’s always that back and forth, isn't it? Trying to piece together something that feels deliberately broken apart.
Forensic teams are working now. They collected evidence from the vehicle, things from the crime scene itself. Post-mortem findings. That’s where the real truth should surface. The sequence of events needs to be locked down by those tests.
Right now? Police say they haven't found any other people involved in this chain. No outside players emerging yet. But that doesn't make the horror less real, does it?
The legal framework is being pulled into play now. Cases are registered under multiple acts. The Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita , and the POCSO Act , which deals with child protection. These chargesheet filings are expected soon. Officials are pushing for the harshest possible punishment under whatever law applies. A real fight for justice seems to be underway here.
