Ravie Dubey on the Ramayana Project and the Power of Faith

Ravie Dubey, who’s playing Lakshman in Nitesh Tiwari’s Ramayana , just told everyone to trust the process. He’s stressing that the team is moving forward with real faith and a sense of responsibility while this massive project continues rolling. It’s one of those huge Indian cinema productions, you know?

He opened up about the film and what people should expect from it when he was speaking at the Himanshu Roy Legacy Awards back in 2026. He didn't spill too much on his actual preparation, but the point came across: they need to do justice to a story that’s woven deep into Indian cultural history.

He talked about his experience with the project. Something really struck me when he said, “Bharat aur Ramyana ek dusre se alag nahi hai..they are one.” It felt heavy. And then he shifted, kind of teasing the audience about what they should anticipate. He basically told them, “We are making this film with faith. You wait with faith.”

It’s a big deal for him personally, playing Lakshman in this epic narrative. On Instagram recently, he wrote something that felt more personal than a press release. It was all about the honor of being part of something so ancient. He mentioned it felt like “the greatest honour of my life to be part of a story that has shaped generations.”

He brought up the whole myth Rama versus Ravana. It’s immortal, really. That quote he shared touched on that weight: “हरि अनन्त हरि कथा अनन्ता… It’s the greatest honour of my life to be part of a story that has shaped generations. Welcome to the world of Namit Malhotra’s Ramayana, the immortal story of Rama vs Ravana.”

The setup itself is massive. Nitesh Tiwari directed it. Namit Malhotra produced it. They’re planning this as a two-part series, which means they aren't just doing one movie. It follows Rama’s journey from Ayodhya exile all the way to facing Ravana.

The cast is stacked with big names, naturally. Ranbir Kapoor plays Rama, Sai Pallavi is Sita, Yash takes on Ravana, and Sunny Deol is Hanuman. And of course there’s Ravie Dubey as Lakshman. The music sounds epic too; Hans Zimmer and A.R. Rahman handled the score.

The timing for the release is staggered. Part one is slated to hit theaters around Diwali 2026. Then the second installment is expected later, during Diwali 2027. It’s a long road, but they seem determined to tackle it right.
