Internet Controversy Involving Pranit More and Himanshu Jangra

What started as some crowd stuff at Pranit More’s stand-up show just blew up into one of those massive internet controversies we see happening in India this week. It totally dominated Reddit, Instagram, X. Massive backlash hit because people screamed about misogyny and consent . And yeah, it ended up with an audience member losing his job. Both Himanshu Jangra and Pranit More were stuck in damage control mode immediately.
So what actually happened during that show?
It all kicked off when someone named Himanshu Jangra was invited into a chat. He brought up taking a woman out, spending about three hundred and seventy rupees on biryani. But the real fire started when he suggested something else. Because he had paid for the meal, he felt like he expected some kind of intimacy in return. That’s where the outrage really started. Viewers watching the clip immediately accused Jangra of treating dating like a simple transaction. Reducing a woman to something you could just "earn" by spending money on food.
The story didn't stay locked up in the comedy venue for long. Pranit More himself posted that clip on his Instagram account, and it went viral fast. Then short clips started circulating online. But things got way worse when longer, uncut versions started doing the rounds on Reddit and all those other platforms.
In the extended footage, you could see Jangra talking about the whole encounter in a much more detailed way before the live audience even saw it. Within days, that clip became one of the absolute biggest topics buzzing across Indian social media.
Then everyone shifted focus. The attention moved away from what Jangra said and onto Pranit More’s role. People argued he wasn't just sitting there doing nothing. He was in the interaction laughing along. They questioned how that footage even made it through whatever content approval process without anyone flagging the potential issues viewers would later bring up. Another big point of criticism came up: Jangra got rewarded for this segment.
How did all this affect Himanshu Jangra and Pranit More?
As the public outcry kept building, internet users started digging around. They identified Jangra and linked him to his workplace quickly. Soon after that connection was made, his employer in Gurugram, Starvik Design, announced they had terminated his employment. Facing all that heat, Jangra eventually issued a public apology and shut down his social media accounts. Meanwhile, Pranit More also apologized publicly and deactivated his Instagram account. Remember, he’d been seen on Bigg Boss 19 before this whole mess started.
