Details Surfacing in Ketan Agarwal’s Murder Investigation

The details surfacing in Ketan Agarwal’s murder investigation are starting to paint a very different picture than what was initially assumed about the Lohagad Fort incident. Police are now suggesting it wasn't just some random trekking mishap. It points toward something much more calculated, a carefully planned execution orchestrated after his fiancée Siya Goyal apparently gave a signal to her alleged lover, Chetan Chaudhary.
The Pune Rural police claim that Chaudhary actually followed Agarwal and Goyal up to the hill fort on June 18th. He waited near some secluded cliff edge, clearly waiting for Goyal's cue before making the move.
Deputy Superintendent of Police Gajanan Tompe said they had arranged this whole thing beforehand. “They aGreed,” he told investigators, “that Goyal would sit down to alert Chaudhary. Once she did that, he approached Agarwal from behind and pushed him off the cliff before running away.”
The real breakthrough came later, from CCTV footage near the foothills of Lohagad. It showed a hooded figure later identified as Chaudhary trailing the couple around the area. That piece just changed everything about how they look at the events leading up to that day.
Lonavla Rural police inspector Dinesh Tayade mentioned this in an interview with the Times of India. He noted something about the timing, too. Apparently, Chaudhary spent less than ten minutes actually on top of the fort before getting up and down in under fifty minutes. A guard recalled seeing the man claiming he was just out for exercise when asked about entering the area.
Why that specific spot? The police think the location near the Vinchu Kata ridge overlooking the Pavana dam wasn't random. It was chosen because it felt isolated, attracting far fewer visitors on a weekday. It made sense, they speculate.
“The spot was more secluded than other parts of the fort,” the officer commented. “We suspect they might have been there earlier just doing reconnaissance.” They are currently digging into those earlier visits.
Suspicion really kicked in after Goyal started giving shaky stories about what happened. She initially claimed Agarwal slipped while posing for a photo, but later changed it to saying he fell while handing her a water bottle. The police found no photos on her phone from that day. That inconsistency raised red flags immediately.
Call records provided another layer of evidence. Investigators looked at the communication between Goyal and Chaudhary. They found they had talked over two thousand times between January and June this year, logging nearly 238 hours of calls. It suggested a relationship that existed for months, even while Goyal was engaged to Agarwal.
Investigators also noted something odd about how Chaudhary handled his phone during the trip. He apparently tried to evade detection by leaving his own mobile behind and carrying an employee’s handset instead.
The probe really picked up steam when Ketan’s family started asking tough questions after the funeral. His sister grew suspicious because Goyal gave her inconsistent answers when they visited the family home days later. When questioned, she just couldn't keep the story straight about the events leading up to the fall. That inconsistency became one of the main threads that helped police start seeing it as a planned murder conspiracy.
It’s important to remember this wasn't the first time there were attempts against Ketan’s life. Police are examining at least three earlier failed attempts involving Siya and Chetan before they finally succeeded at Lohagad Fort on June 18th. There were other tries one where Siya allegedly tried to push him while pretending to save him from a snake. Other plans existed, but circumstances reportedly stopped them dead in their tracks.
The couple was apparently waiting for what the police are now calling the “perfect opportunity.” That moment arrived on June 18th when Siya convinced Ketan to go to Lohagad Fort to celebrate her birthday. Investigators think they might have been scoping out the fort before that date, making sure the plan had a target.
Both Goyal and Chaudhary have been arrested and charged with murder now. The investigation is still moving forward.
