Dhanush's Recent Focus: From *Habeebi* to *Om*

Dhanush recently got some attention, right? mostly because of his upcoming film D55 , which is now officially called Om . But this time, he shifted focus. He shared something emotional about his father Kasthuri Raja’s movie, Habeebi .
He posted it on social media, praising his dad’s performance in that romantic drama. He congratulated the whole team for making it feel like a genuinely remarkable cinematic experience.
He actually explained why he was only just catching up. Apparently, constant shooting schedules kept him away. He wrote something like: “I could only watch Habeebi today because of the continuous shooting schedule. I am proud of my father for stepping into such an unfamiliar world and living Yusuf so convincingly and wholeheartedly.”
And then he turned to the crew. He gave credit to director Meera Kathiravan and everyone on the team. Not just for bringing out great stuff from his father and the other actors, but for delivering something truly remarkable.
About *Habeebi*
Habeebi . What is it about? It’s a romantic drama that spans four decades. It's set in this weaving town near Tirunelveli. The whole thing centers on Yousuf, a traditional weaver who just tries to hold onto his family’s handloom legacy while everything around him keeps changing.
Running alongside that story is some unspoken love between Abu Thahir and Nilofar. Their relationship unfolds quietly, dealing with all the social and cultural shifts happening in their community. The film uses that weaving town backdrop to dig into love, memory, survival stuff across generations.
Meera Kathiravan directed it. Kasthuri Raja and Esha M lead the way there. There are also Malavika Manoj, Dhanasree Sudhakaran, Arulkumar, Anusreya Rajan, and a bunch of others involved in key parts. Sam CS handled the music and the background score.
Other Projects
Meanwhile, Dhanush’s other project? He was last seen working on Kara . That was an action thriller directed by Vignesh Raja. It followed Karasamy, this reformed thief who is pushed into old ways to get back his ancestral land the one that was mortgaged.
Kara also had Mamitha Baiju, KS Ravikumar, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Karunaas, and Jayaram in it. Critics gave it mixed reviews, but it’s streaming now on Netflix after the theater run ended.
Upcoming Film *Om*
Now for Om . Dhanush is filming that next one. Rajkumar Periasamy directed it. Mammootty, Sreeleela, Sai Pallavi are all involved. It's slated for release in theaters October 16, 2026. Music and the score came from Sai Abhyankkar too. The makers confirmed this is just the first piece of a planned franchise. There’s already a lot of buzz about it.
