Endrick, Ancelotti, and the World Cup Narrative

You see what’s happening online right now? If you follow the 2026 World Cup buzz, it’s all about this meme frenzy on X. People are just laughing, making sarcastic posts about Carlo Ancelotti and Endrick . It’s that whole dynamic the feeling that he should be getting more time, especially given everything.

Ancelotti managed him back at Real Madrid. He picked the kid for the World Cup squad, but you look closer. Endrick was just an unused sub in that Brazil game against Morocco, right?

That match itself felt weird to some supporters. The Seleção lost the midfield fight badly, sure, but there was this sense of missing something, a lack of that typical South American spark floating around. Especially when you looked at who they had starting up, like Igor Thiago in the center forward spot he just didn't light things up much.

And then you have the numbers. That’s where it gets really telling about Endrick’s time under Ancelotti. He played 37 games for Real Madrid during that debut season. But look at the minutes: only 847 total. Barely twenty-three minutes per game, maybe less. No league starts. Five goals in the Copa del Rey that’s it across the whole season. Just one league goal. It tells a story of being on the periphery.

But things changed later. He went on loan to Lyon for half of that 2025-26 season, and that was different. He came back with eight goals and eight assists in twenty-one appearances there. That’s some real output.

Ancelotti, though, he’s defended his choices. When it came to the World Cup draw against Morocco, he had to push back a bit. He explained his reasoning he swapped things around. He brought in Matheus Cunha instead of Thiago. Different qualities, apparently.

He said something about waiting for the right moment. “l’ll bring Endrick on at the right moment," Ancelotti commented before that Haiti game. "We’ll have to wait a little while. He’ll be important in this World Cup. For me, personally, Endrick is an extraordinary talent.”

And then there was the other side of it. The patience angle. “He is patient, he’s in no rush, and he’s very mature for his age," Ancelotti added. He stressed that maturity. That his family, who are close to him, they are also patient. That matters a lot for a young man going through all this stuff. It sounds like he sees something deeper than just the immediate game time.
